  Mrs. Jones has had me laughing my socks off.

  Bubble has been so encouraging (she, along with other ladies [and some men] here even donated stem cells in the hope of helping me - and if not me, others!).

  Blondie is a mine of information and a thorn in Watchtower's side.

  Grace (Mouthy) is EVERYONE'S favourite granny!

  Emo has more love in her little toe than Watchtower has as an entire organisation.

  JukieF hugs and writes with compassion.

  Gill gets everyone talking.

  Linda (Fullofdoubtnow) - is a wonderful poster. Oh, blast, she's a fraud!

  Loubelle is wonderfully cuddly.

  BEM is extremely kind.

  Alleymom is incredibly marvellous, kind, thoughtful and Scholar's nemesis!

  A Jamaican fireman came home from work one day and said to his wife"Ya know sumptin', womon, we have a wonderful new system at de Fire Station... Bell 1 rings, we put on our jackets. Bell 2 rings, we slide down de pole. Bell 3 rings, we jump on de engine and we's ready to go.

  So from now on womon, when I say 'Bell one', I want you to strip naked. When I say 'Bell two', you jump on de bed. When I say 'Bell three', we's gonna mek love all tru de night girl."

  The next night he came home and shouted:"Bell One!", and his wife stripped naked. "Bell Two!", and she jumped on the bed."Bell Three!",
  and they started to make love. After a few minutes, the wife yelled out "Bell Four!".

  "WOMON... What da hell is 'Bell Four'?", he asked.

  how long is reproving for ?

  if an elder did something he shouldnt and got reprooved how long before he is allowed to be an elder again ?

  anyone know ?

  If he has only been removed, they can be re appointed next CO visit, straight back to elder, but in the case of Reproof by JC, its on record and refereed too for 5 years.

  Thanks for the clarification, Jeff. THAT sounds more like what happened to the elder I knew. He was just "removed". Ian

  Depends on what the body of elders thinks of him.

  For example, an elder in my old congregation was taken off because "justice" had to be seen to be done. He'd evidently done something he shouldn't have and too many people knew about it.

  However, because he was much-loved by the congregation and the other elders thought the world of him he was back being an elder within a year - possibly earlier but I can't remember if he had to be made a MS first or not

  So, if your face fits, in no time! If it doesn't, could be quite a while!!

  Gentlemen, Ladies and Muslims!!!!

  a very good friend of mine is in charge of plant maintenance at a local factory.

  there are 300 people working in this factory and two of them are muslims.

  the muslims have requested that they require special toilets just for themselves.

  Moslems would love it. Im sure it would remind them of Pakistan and all the mods cons and conveviences they left behind to come to stinky old Britain with is primitive flushing piss pots.

  Now, now, Katie dear, let's not generalise!

  For what it's worth, when I first came out of hospital I urinated and was vomiting a lot. As our bedroom is upstairs and the toilet downstairs and with Claire getting up early for work each day I decided that I just didn't want to disturb her - so kept a bucket by my side of the bed. I've had to urinate in it up to three times a night, pressing my widgy against the side so as to not make a noise - and I've also had to vomit in it. I drew the line, however, of back-ending into it

  Just goes to show, a bucket really does have good uses

  i've been thinking about the above question a lot lately!

  i see so many so-called religious people being hypocritical to the religion they profess to have faith in.

  they may say "hey, i'm only human", as if this excuses their behaviour.

  brother self righteous would not set foot in his aunties home because she had a christmas tree up , the strange thing is he obviously didnt have a problem setting foot in a kingdom hall with michael porter in it !

  someone could explain that twisted logic to me all day long and i would be non the wiser .

  Going against Buddhist principles?? I wrote:

  When I was close to death and fought to recover, why should that be going against any Buddhist principles (remember, I don't belong to any particular Buddhist school because I detest dogma so I'm not truly sure what you're asking?). Looking after my family is paramount with me and I have said many times here that while I wasn't afraid of death (I WAS afraid of the way I might die) I was more afraid of leaving Claire and my children behind.

  I was only 51/52 at the time, which I feel is still relatively young, and my wife was 46/47. My youngest child was 15/16. The wonderful thing about true Buddhist teaching is not to have everything turned into a dogma, such as it is a sin to commit suicide, to let oneself die, etc. I chose to live because I love life and love my family greatly. Virtually everyone else does too, of course, but, sadly, some lose the fight and die - not because they didn't want to stay alive but because they had no energy left with which to fight the disease (the disease swamped them).

  No one really wants to die, but we all know it is inevitable. Even Buddhists accept that if one is unwell one should receive medication. The Dalai Lama did when he took ill - and there was a large Tibetan medical school in Lhasa before the Chinese invasion. So, what are you asking, exactly?

  To a Buddhist life is sacred, including one's own. Indeed, it is considered to be a privileged position to be born human.

  Hi Gill,

  Assuming this is true:

  In researching this problem, my friend discovered that the local University had to spend £15,000 on toilets for its Muslim students and these toilets are 'Muslims Only'!

  and assuming also the latest story is true I would strongly suggest you get on to your local newspaper and ask about the former and tell them about the latter.

  I went to college with Pakistani Muslims and asked them if it were true about them having to wash their backsides after every visit to the loo. "Ha Ha Ha, who told you that?!" was the reply. They (the majority) don't do it!!

  Regarding standing up on the toilet seat, I never asked but knowing my Pakistani friends I can't believe that, either! OK, maybe some Muslims do it, but I wouldn't say the majority do here in the UK.

  For what it's worth, I was invited back to a Muslim's house for tea and Indian sweets and we were joined by many friends from college. They were brilliant, friendly and intelligent people who made me feel like one of their own. There is so much Islamaphobia going about - but if there is a GENUINE grievence against Muslims it should be taken up with M.P.s and newspapers.

  I'd no more wish to be Muslim than anyone here, but the reality is a small group of idiots is not indicative of the millions of Muslims worldwide, e.g. look at how two leading Muslims went to the Sudan to help in getting the school teacher released from jail and of how many Muslims here also called for her immediate release!

  I strongly believe that s-l-o-w-l-y and eventually British-born Muslims will integrate far easier and much better than their parents. I had to laugh the other day when Muslims who had emigrated here in the 60s were interviewed about how they felt about the new influx of immigrants coming in. They said: "We don't want them! We've worked hard to make a living here and set up home but most of these immigrants are looking to live off the state!" Sound familiar?!

  For goodness sake, we're all the same but some cultures leave a lot to be desired. However, I am truly optimistic through seeing how many immigrants, Muslims included, are adapting to our way of life. Indeed, look at the Muslim baroness who went to the Sudan to help effect the school teacher's release. She didn't wear a head covering! Many Muslim women are now wearing western clothes and accepting western values. It's been a slow process but many are getting there. There's so much fear (of losing British values) when there's no need to be.
