Joker: I don't get on here much, but when I saw the topic I knew I had to reply. You really do owe it to yourself to read CofC. I have been an inactive JW since 1995, not df'd or disassociated. I saw a copy at my friend Grace's house many years ago when I was still a JW. I was petrified to even look at the cover. Scared that something bad would happen to me for even looking at the cover of a book written by someone I was told was an 'apostate'. Having been inactive all these years, I finally felt "safe" to look into it. Grace kindly sent me a copy as a gift. I read it in secret as my son (JW) lives with me and I was afraid he would see it. I couldn't put it down. It is so well written and so honestly written, that I was compelled to believe it. Since reading it, I want my children to come out of the WT. I was a JW for 30 years and raised my children as JW's. It was a terrible mistake for me not to have examined the origins of the organization before I became a baptized witness. It has cost me 30 years of my life, but also my children's lives as well, to find out that the WT is a big lie. My children are still in. I never thought to examine the organization because I believed everything they told me - because I wanted to believe it. It seemed reasonable. Why would they lie to me? It never occurred to me that they would. Since reading the book and finding out the real truth, I would love to share it with my adult children in the hopes that it would set them free from the great lie. I urge you to read it, and then make up your own mind as to whether Ray Franz speaks the truth or not. PLEASE!!!!!

Congrats to jusastudy! for seeing the light before it's too late! LOL Many of us spent 20, 30 and more years "in the truth" only to find out it was a BIG lie! Glad you're not going to waste those years. My children are still in, and I hope they see the light too. Many, many happy returns on your anniversary!!! God bless you, jusastudy!

Glad you went and it was a positive experience, Rayzorblade! I've been wanting to go but am skittish about it as I'm not df'd or da'd, so if anyone saw me there - I WOULD be! LOL - My question is were there any women, or was it all men? I wouldn't likely go if it were just men meeting. I wouldn't feel comfortable. I've met Frank socially before, but don't know any of the others. I've tried to encourage mouthy (my dear friend) to go, but it's really too far for her to travel at night. Anyway, glad you had a great 1st impression! I'm going to PA in Oct. with mouthy and I can't wait!!!

benext: I don't know whether you live in the U.S. or in Canada. I don't know U.S. laws about recording, but here in Canada, you do not need permission of the other party to record them. My brother was a newspaper man for 30 years, and said that's one of the first things they learned as a reporter, that you do not need the consent of the other person, you only need the consent of one person to record two people talking, so if you are the person who wishes to record the conversation, and you are one of the persons being recorded then you are legally entitled to do it. I have a feeling the same law applies in the U.S. because the WT headquarters records all incoming phone calls, and they wouldn't be able to do that if they had to have the consent of everyone who calls. Just something to either think about or investigate in your area. Hope it helps.

Going where the "Need is Great"
by OUTLAW inlets go back in time, back to the late 60`s early 70`s..armagedon is coming and the wbts wants it`s members to sell every thing they got and preach in areas where there are few or no dubs..where did the people you know go?..my parents packed up their belongings and went to..the friggin bible belt of b.c..lol!
a good wind storm would knock a few christians out of trees there were so many..a bloody church on every street corner, and every one of them had the truth..so why the bible belt?..there were`nt many dubs there at the time, but most importantly property was cheap.a smart dub could make a killing at real estate, and they did..more money than you could shake a dead donkey at,lol!....my bud`s dad also went where the need was great.the dumb-ass religion broke his family up,his wife being a none believer and all.so where did my buds anointed dad go?..hawaii,lol!
where else would you go to rough it out till armagedon?

Poor you, Mouthy! I can relate to you experience. I lost out financially too. I quit a good paying permanent job I got after finishing high school, at a Trust Company in Montreal, so I could "pioneer", and I did not even enjoy going to door to door. I used to hope the people weren't home! (I was too shy to be a successful pioneer.) I only had a high school education, so all the part-time jobs paid minimum wage and no pension. Then when I got married my husband wouldn't buy life insurance because he was going to live forever! Well, guess what? He didn't live forever and I'm still trying to catch up financially! But, I'm so thankful to be free!
