Declining Meeting Attendance-CO visit

so we have our circuit overseer this week.

we're getting the crap kicked out of us (figuratively) for our meeting attendance.

we have attendance in the 70% range for some of our meetings.

How long since you been out in service?

it must be about 13 years since i went out in service.

about 15 years since i went out a couple times a month, and about 18 years since i went at least once a week.. i just can't imagine going from door to door anymore.

but to think that we all did it for quite awhile.

Haven't slogged WT litter-ature around since 1992, just before I purposely moved out of my congregations territory. A full year and a half after I was dunked in the name of the WT god.

great...now thats out of the way, i need you guys to do me a favour, i have been reading up on jws for the past three/four years, the people are pleasent enough and live fairly ordinary lives....some could say boring....(lets call up susie for a game of cards!!!!!

i come here with a problem....my problem is simple and clear cut, it could even be summed up in one word..."hope".

it appears Ive angered some and thats understandable. the truth....blah blah, who cares??? to my knowledge "The Truth" is another way of saying "Im a witness" ....................... Yes, I dont accept it as the truth, its just a way of saying it. Some of my best friends are witnesses and part of me feels reluctant to talk to them about anything I have concern with

Challenge your "friends" in even a small degree on the WT being the chosen organization of Jehovah or what they believe as being anything other than "the truth" and you'll come to know how much of a big deal it is as evidenced by your reluctance to talk to them about "concerns" you may have.

Have you ever asked yourself why you "feel" they way you do about asking questions around them?

Perhaps, the very reason is because they subtly let you know that if you question them too deliberately, that your frienship with them will be summarily "kicked to the curb".

the march 2005 kingdom ministry brings up a full article about the awake only being published once a month, starting january 2006. .

but the fun thing is the roundabout way this change is announced.

knowing that the news would be a bitter pill to swallow (there should be a 'speeding up' of the preaching work, not a downsizing), the watchtower only announces the move to monthly publishing by the end of the article.

If they really wanted to put more emphasis on the Bible why not ditch the magazines altogether and print more Bibles for distribution?

If they did that they'd lose their primary way of spreading their prophaganda. No WT magazines to "study" and take "lessons" from.

So here I am....with a question - Why did you fall out of the truth and how?

Frankly speaking, a lot of people will take issue with the way you asked this question given the negative connatative spin the WT, JWs, and you present it.

I didn't "fall out of "the truth"" as you so eloquently put it.

Through research in comparison with WT "litter-ature" I elevated my consciousness, integrity and CONCLUDED that though the WT may have gotten a few things right, they are as far from having "THE TRUTH" as any other given religion out there.

I don't think it's your imagination.....that's exactly what happened. It's that nasty little secret that JWs refuser to even talk about amongst themselves.

I asked my wife about it and she turned crimson red in the face and beat a hasty retreat.
