my parents go to a catholic church, and they say that the average age is in the 60's.. at the kh, the average age is about 30, if you calculate the age of the children too.. theoretically, the average age of witnesses should go up with time .
if less and less people become witnesses, the average age should go up, just like traditional religions....no?.

I think they've only sustained the growth they've had up until to day only due to the momentum of growth in less developed countries along with growth in their general population.
IN this age of information, even that's being eroded.
are you trying to fade or otherwise distance yourself from the org, but have a spouse that is a loyal jw?
on various posts i read about some that are staying in the org, or having a difficult time because their spouse doesn't understand the change.
i'll begin...my wife doesn't understand how i can turn my back on all the good things i've gotten from the org.
My wife sounds exactly like your wife. She also wonders, "If he has rejected his religion which was once a big part of his life, maybe he will reject me too"
Apparently all our wives were cut from the same mold.
I had a hell of a time getting through to my wife that I just wanted to be "me", to find fulfillment in doing things I'd chosen and truly wanted to do rather than be tied down to the drudgery and relentless schedule of WT meetings and activities dictated by old geezers in Brooklyn who've lived their life insulated from the issues people face in real life. This was especially the case when I'd finished school, got my degree and a new job that doubled my income almost immediately
Constantly, to this day, I have to assure her that I love her and that I have no intention of leaving her.
I've successfully faded, although I do attend the obligatory "pass the stale bread and cheap wine" party with her.
Didn't really have any when I was in. Could never find a common interest amongst those crackpots that didn't have something to do with the organization.

she will be announced this thursday.. she's not aware of the "organization" side of the organization, gina and i both feel she is unaware of her right to appeal.
if we tell her, and she appeals, i think she stands a decent chance of having it overturned.

after lurking about for a while i finally decided to join the board.
i have never done anything like this and was amazed at how stressful it was to sign up and press the return key to join up and actually post something.
just a quick bio: 41 year old lawyer who was raised a jw but had the good sense to never get baptized.
I do. Although I and my immediate family are not in it, and oh though they tried to talk me out of it when I was gung ho about being a JW, my wife and her family are totally washed in WT. Anytime I say anything about the org, even in a offhanded way, they go into full "defend the org at all costs" mode and shut down.
I could care less about my in-laws, but I wish my wife would wake-up.
A couple of my brother-in-laws, I think have recognized the WT for the lying cheatinig organization it is, but, they're afraid to speak up about it for fear of family.
upon arriving i ran into lots of old friends and really enjoyed seeing everyone and visiting.
they dont know that im currently struggling with doubts about the organization and they think that im the same old zealous brother.
i couldnt help but feel a sence of guilt visiting with them about our current number of publishers and how many we had pioneering ect.
My old congregation is definitely not perfect, but the people there are endlessly more decent than most of those here.Farewell.

The posts on this thread is just a small sampling of the people on this board. Your statement here just demonstrates that although you see imperfection in the org, you still subscribe to their "if you're not a JW, you're worldly and literally a piece of toast" directive and you're not quite ready to see "the truth" about "da troof".
It appears to me that you're just, by way of WT training, ill equipped to interact with people who have no problem with stepping out of the box of the fake smiles and forced responses dictated by the WT psychobable that masqerades as unity and of them being the "happiest people on earth".

The ex is going to really think I'm a demonized apostate. I left her a message on her cell phone 3 weeks ago that I need to start saving more for my kids' secular education since the 4 year college education they were getting from the Awake magazines were going to take twice as long due to the WTBTS cutting them back to once a month.

this happened almost three years ago, but since i always enjoy reading about other people's jw encounters, i thought i'd finally share one of my own.. i lived in an apartment for four years following my disfellowshipping and no one had ever come to my door, not even so much as a shepherding visit.

The trouble with a lot of JW is they know very little about a lot of subjects
You really couldn't surmise this by the way they like to dominate a conversation, especially if the WT's image is called into question.
