Guess I will hear this one Thursday night. Last I heard, minors still living at home were allowed to come with their baptized, active parents.

It's sad really. In all honesty, I wonder if this is an entirely new bible or just another revision, just like all the other revisions before. I can't see them deviating too terribly much. The Society's major deviations have always been concurrently subtle or on subjects the masses didn't completely understand. This would be too much of a blatantly obvious change if it were an entirely new bible. It would also cause too many questions with current JWs, especially if there were significant changes.

Instead of a new translation of the new world translation, I call a new bible (pure humorous speculation, btw). The governing body recieved revelations from God concerning the coming of Armageddon next year, 100 years after Christ's coming in 1914. Yep, 2014 marks the 100th anniversary of that important date. The Gentile times will have ended. So with these new revelations, the governing body wrote a new bible based off the new opened scrolls mentioned in Revelation and just delivered to the GB by a revelation.
This new bible will tell us what is expected of us in this new world, instructions on how to teach the newly resurrected, and methods for finding your resurrected loved ones. It will teach us how to be carpenters so that we can build houses, and how to farm so that we can sustain ourselves. Laws will be outlined on how land should be claimed and shared as well as what not to do with all the newly tamed animals.
The name of the bible will change from the New World Translation to the New World Bible since the revelations will have been received in English. Surprise, no translation is needed so we'll know exactly what was meant by reading the original words. No more will we have to debate the meaning of stauros or other greek words.
Expect the unexpected with us JWs.

Julia, I'll take one for the team and report. I can't lose my religion before I hear this history-making, ground-breaking, earth-shaking event broadcast. My congregation is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, the last session that will air. So if anyone hears it on Saturday or Sunday a.m., feel free to report.

Free today - the book I wish I'd found when I was getting out of JWs.
by AngusOg init's called quitting jehovah's witnesses & other cults: how to do it & why you should, and i hope you'll check it out.
i wrote it because other books seemed to focus on personal experiences (boring, irrelevant) or doctrinal discussion of why i should convert to some other religion (boring, irrelevant and insulting).
anyway, it's an ebook, it's free, and it's out today..

From one unhappy JW to an ex-unhappy JW.......Thanks. I appreciated the first half of the book, but the last half containing all the blog posts didn't resonate with me as much as the rest of the book did. In that first half, I appreciate your straight-forward, get-to-the-point approach.

I guess this is why they are making such a big deal about broadcasting this year's AGM to every active JW in the states. They have sessions set up on the Saturday and Sunday following the AGM where congregations are going to be invited to meet with other internet-connected congregations to view a secured web stream of the meeting. I was told that there's a total of four sessions, with special arrangements for parking, donations, etc. at the selected KHs.
The elder said this years AGM was going to make history. I assumed just because it was being broadcast, but this makes more sense.

Seems to be a common problem. The copy I got from http://richardfrank.nl/1927.pdf has the same problem.

Wanabee Elders & Ministerial Servants
by minimus inthere were a lot of wannabee elders and ministerial servants in the congregations.
if you were a male and baptized, it was expected that you "reach out".
everyone wanted to have a position.. wives and mothers of men wanted representation too.

Yep. Me. That's how I was raised. But I don't reach out like that anymore.
I'd like to validate Bill's point, though. Many elders have expressed this very thought to me in an effort to encourage me to reach out. One elder even told me that the elder's meetings they have at each assembly is starting to see less and less elders, and that he was concerned that soon there won't be enough to shepherd the flock unless more brothers reach out.
The odd thing is that in my new congregation, we have about 8-10 brothers that seem to be well qualified but are not servants, probably due to service time. None of us are reaching out. I'm not sure about their reasons, but prsonally, after learning TTATT, I lost my drive. I realized my lack of humility and decided that the "privileges" weren't worth the lies.
If this trend continues, the Society will be forced to wake up and change their views on apostates, shunning, and shepherding (and many others) in order to keep the flock and not die out. Or they might view the dwindling number as a sign the end is nearer and rejoice.

I found this post while researching a comment from "In Search Of Christian Freedom". Here's a little more info on the topic from Brother Franz's book.
"Some years ago the Watchtower magazine occasionally modified the name in its articles by using the expression “Jehovah’s Christian Witnesses.” (See also the 1971 book “The Nations Shall Know that I Am Jehovah,”,which frequently employs this term, as in pages 51-54, 76, 82, and so forth.) It was then learned that a group of former Witnesses had already adopted and registered legally this name. The Watchtower thereafter generally desisted from using the expression. An exception is found in the August 15, 1980, Watchtower , page 24."
