Philippians 2:6-11 is another example. Jesus has been given the Name, (ie Lord) above every name, not every [other] name.

'Lord' is in this text the Greek equivalent of Yahweh and in the Aramaic Pershitta it is rendered Mari(Lord)Yah. Bending the knee to (Lord) Jesus and confessing that he is Lord is a quote from Isaiah where Yahweh prophecies this about himself. This homage is not given to the used-on-earth name 'Jesus', but 'in the Name OF Jesus, the now glorified and exalted by his father ' Lord'. Following the NWT's own rules about inserting "Jehovah" for Kurios when "Jehovah" appears in a quoted Hebrew text, then the verse should read "every tongue shall confess that Jesus is "Jehovah" to the glory of God the Father". Of course this is impossible for them, so they have to resort to deception, by the use of additions and omissions to uphold their modern-day Aryan heresy.

while i'm glad i found this site, it has also crumbled to bits everything i've believed in my whole life.

i feel like the certainty, magic and wonder has gone out of my life.

We left the watchtower but never God. After a couple of months chilling and reading various bible translations we were moved enough to pray "send us where we can worship you as you would have it". We knew we had come out of the "synagogue of satan" and felt drawn to the local anglican church down the road. It could certainly be no worse than where we had come from, could it? If we got bad vibes we would simply walk out we decided.

Wow. Within 20 minutes we gave each other incredulous glances and we realised that the wt had told jws the most incredible lies imaginable about 'false worship' in churches. No denomination can possibly be perfect, but Jesus is not looking for perfection. He told the 'overcomers' in the churches in Rev 2 and 3 not to give up attending when sins were being committed therein, but assured them that he knew the ones who were not leading double lives. He alone is the judge and he alone can read hearts. I do not condemn anyone who attends, even when they follow a different life style to me.

Have never missed a service since and all 4 of us got baptised in the same church 7 months later. Happy to visit Baptist, Methodist and Evangelical churches too, and combined services are really special. We consider Catholics as part of the body of Christ, but their faith structure is not for us.

I definitely recommend a few months 'chill' time to recover from the jw cult abuse before rushing into anything. Try comparing several different translations to understand the REAL gospel and pray for guidance and help.

Whatever you decide is the way forward for you, I wish you happiness peace and contentment!

Birthdays

i had my first real birthday party yesterday.

call me an irredeemable pagan, but i was massively excited about this, the whole thing was very special, i got a little emotional and i think my friends must have found it a little strange but it was just nice to be creature worshipped.

when i was a child my parents always used to tell people i didn't miss out by not celebrating my birthday but i did miss out.

The 'necessary' abstination of "blood" (dietary) in Acts 28 was in respect of other Christians (Jewish) weak consciences/faith and was given to keep the peace between Jewish and Gentile believers. Romans 14:2 "One man's faith permits him to believe he may eat ANYTHING, while a weaker one (limits his) eating to vegetables".Paul. Amplified Bible.

Our first family birthday after leaving the org was our younger daughter's 17th. I bought her a huge card and wrote on it, "You were 1, happy birthday! You were 2, happy birthday! etc all the way up to her 17th. I had to suppress the sobs. How natural to celebrate my beautiful daughter's date of birth! This special day, every year, robbed by the cult. (They want the money usually spent, simple truth of it). Birthdays are a huge deal in our house now.
