It depends on the indvidual themselves. Some have a very hard time coping with their loss. It is a loss in the literal sense. For what you believed and was engrained in your head as something being the truth. In fact is not the truth. I was miserable as hell when I was a jw and resorted to using drugs which I am not terribly proud of, but it was a coping mechanism for me being unhappy. Since I left the organization I have got my life back on track thanks to a wonderful therapist. I believe all jws who have left the organization would benefit greatly from some type of therapy, especially if this religion has consumed your entire life. Just learning how to fit back in with society was a challenge for me. I am glad I got out this mess while I did, for I am still young and have my whole life ahead of me.

Does Everybody turn our okay after leaving?
by Scooby ini am curious... do you know some that have left the truth that become "worse" people?
for years i would hear about some who left the truth and rumours how they are on drugs, in jail, etc.
and many bros and sis would say, "you might as well go out in the world and do all the bad stuff..cuz you're dead at armaggedon!".

How BIG was YOUR JW book-bag?
by Scully inwhen i was replying to nicolas' question in another thread, i used the following scripture to show why jws are always so tired:"the scribes and the pharisees have seated themselves in the seat of moses.
therefore all the things they tell you, do and observe, but do not do according to their deeds, for they say but do not perform.
they bind up heavy loads and put them upon the shoulders of men, but they themselves are not willing to budge them with their finger.

Some of these posts are hilarious, although it has oddly reminded me of my service bag that is in my closet collecting dust. Inside you will find magazines from 1999, a reasoning book and a return visit book. This nonsense will finally make it into a dumpster somwhere in this city. For tommorow is trash day.

After Leaving The Witnesses, How Have You Made Your Life More Satisfying?
by minimus insince so many of us thought that we found the truth, naturally, disappointment has taken it's effect over us.
some still yearn for some kind of inner joy or satisfaction.
is your life better, now that you've seen the truth or are you still struggling inside?

Minimus where do you get these ques? Anyway for the first time in my life I can truly say I am happy. I am drug free, (almost two years)out of therapy and happy with the person I turned out to be. I am continuing to pursue all the dreams I was told were not important. Why pursue a dream when meetings, study, and field service are to be primary in your life? I received my masters in physical therapy and currently trying to achieve my doctorate. I believe in community service and try to contribute within my community. I am learning to think for myself and not play the game of following the leader. It feels good!

Why Not Just Let It Go?
by ikhandi ini am fairly new to this board, but have been lurking for awhile before i decided to become a registered member.
i have read many posts old and new and can't help but wonder why many of you just don't let it go?
some of you have expressed bitterness and disgust over what the wts has done to you.

avishai if you feel that strongly and so bitter maybe you need to march yourself right up the wbts up in Brooklyn and tell them about how you have been wronged As far as your comment about Jehovah being able to take insensitve comments that is really disrespectful. Maybe you should think about some counseling? Just as you have a right to freedom of expression so do I

Ah yes I am in the process of letting it all go. I was somewhat sad when I was Dfed four years ago but then I tried to put things back into perspective. There has not been one day that has gone by that I have not questioned did I make the right decisions in my life at that time. At one point you have to move on unless you want to progress with your life. I don't see how that can happen if you cling on to your negative past. I choose not to bash jw's for my mother is one. I choose not to disgrace Jehovahs name by insensitve comments afterall I still believe him to be the creator of all human life

Others make fun of jw's and their cause. Many make insensitve comments about Jehovah and his son Jesus. There have been many who have been on this board for awhile and continue to do all things I have mentioned above. Will there ever come a time where you will say I have had enough with the bashing, I am moving on with my life. How can you call yourself free when you spend so much time talking about your life as a jw? Why not let that part of your life go forever?

External microphone and microrecorder? Why go through all that? If you don't wish to be bothered by the elders just say so. Why go through all that drama? Just be honest skip the dramatics. I mean since when are the elders the wt police?

Six million people mislead?
by ikhandi ini have done a little research since joining this board and honestly believe that jehovahs witnesses fit in the cult category.
however what i don't understand if this is not the so called true religion as most of you have expressed how do you figure six million were mislead into believing it is the only true religion?
i mean this is not like the heaven's gate cult or the infamous jonestown cult who had very little followers in comparison with jehovahs witnesses.

I can assure you this question was asked in sincerity. This is something I have been pondering for awhile. Thanks to all that have replied
