I personally am tired of the invites to meetings and district conventions. Mind you these are invitations from jws in good standing. Why are they talking to me? Some days I feel like screaming Give it a rest!

Do family/relatives still hound you about going back? what do they/you say?
by run dont walk inno lie 10 years after i left, my family still thinks i'm coming back one day, get a grip, the last conversation i had, i kinda lost it a bit with my mom, and more or less said why would i go back, when russell/rutherford made everything up as they went along.
well that was a conversation stopper, and my brother/sister called alittle while back, i mentioned the un thing, child abuse scandals, and a few other things, i am not kidding, they pretended that they new nothing and that these things probaly never happened, just the media making up stories, how do you reason with that ???
i said :" well don't take their word for it, investigate yourself so you know, and read the entire watchtower history 1879-2003, read it yourself, if you are not willing to then shut up !

Just finished reading COC whoa!
by Thunder Rider init took me over a month of reading every night before bed, but last night i finished reading crisis of conscience.
i was amazed by what i read.
the extent of disregard for peoples feelings and lack of human kindness to those who had given a major part of their lives to theocratic service, made me sick.

I read that book a few months ago and was very enlightened by what I read.Although I wasn't prepared for the emotional trip that followed after I read it. Knowing what I know now I could never go back to that org even if I wanted to.

Looking back today, What is your biggest "disappointment" about being a JW?
by run dont walk infor me it has to be my family, there not stupid, i was a little kid (the youngest) during the 1970's, all my brothers and sisters were in their teens/20's, what didn't they see ??
and why don't they see it today ??.
truly baffles me,.

Lets see finding out the Truth really wasn't the Truth. Its too bad it took my departure to realize that. That is really the only regret I have. I wish all the good friends I left behind would come to that realization.

the biblical on bad associations spoil useful habits and another on just because everyone else does it doesnt mean you have to do it to, would you jump off a cliff just because other people do what were the sayings that bugged you?

I have yet to come across anyone defining what the real TRUTH is. Its a general term with what could have a thousand different answers. I have my own answers and that is enough for me.

Just when you think it's safe to go back in the water
by berylblue in...you see northern girl is back "gracing" the boards, and you know it's time to go back into hiding.
the only thing worse than vitriol is specious (and, i might add, poorly phrased, punctuated and misspelled) vitriol, aimed at those least deserving.
i am not in a mood to take her lame, semi-literate attempts to upset everyone here.

I find it rather interesting that one person can get a message board all up in arms. Its true some people rub me the wrong way as well, but I simply ignore them.

I don't recall saying that I believe everything the society teaches to be true. If I did I would be lying to myself. I agree with you that is is a man-made organization with man-made rules, but how you interpret those rules to be correct or incorrect is up to the individual themselves. Some teachings and ideas I still believe to be true. Does that make me any less of a person that I have not abandoned all wts teachings? I don't think so.

I have never been given that privledge. I guess you can call me selfish and heartless. I could care less about those still in. I left because I wasn't feeling it (religion) anymore. Its up to everyone including my mother to see this religion for what it isn't and leave if they want to.

You need to be free of " I still think, what if they are right, sometimes "

Hell I ask myself that question at times, and I have been out for four years and have no intention on going back. It's not wrong to still wonder.
