7 Reasons Why “Babylon the Great” was Jerusalem
by Tiresias inauthors david chilton (1987) and james stuart russell (1878) propose that the revelation is primarily a prophecy of the destruction of ancient jerusalem by the roman armies.
the revelation is jerusalem's armageddon (mountain of assembled roman troops).
i see the revelation as a war siren warning the first century christians of the imminent destruction of the city.

JW's and depression
by FeelingFree ini was wondering how many of you suffered badly with depression when you were in "the truth" and if you feel your depression was related to being part of the organisation?
are you better now you have left or still have issue's?
whatever your experience's i would be very intrested to know (if you feel you can talk about it.).

Afrikanman--
Your experience is eerily like my own. It all culminated about 3 years ago. I resigned as an elder about 5 years ago. Been a dub 53 years an elder off and on for 20 years. Tried to commit suicide and spent 3 week in a psych ward. No longer on meds and have found true peace in the real world. Still trying to get my loving wife out and my 4 terrific children are just hanging in there but not doing much.
Yes leading an unnatural life with an unnatural view of life definitely led me to the point of desperation. I'm 99% faded an go once in a while for my wife's sake. No fs for 3 years now and no shepherding calls yet.
You will recover and be a better person once you do. Peace and happiness be with you my brother.

2014 AGM announcement rumour
by yadda yadda 2 infrom barbara anderson, former watchtower headquarters researcher and writer, on another recent thread:.
it is expected that at the 2014 annual meeting, usually held the first saturday in october, will serve watchtower leaders well to cover-up all the 100-years of prophetic nonsense.
rumor has it they are going to celebrate their 100-years of announcing the kingdom in an adroit way by featuring a move of "great" significance to do with the expansion of the governing body to an "apostolic" 12 or some other fantasy idea.. .

Could it be that in order to keep the self serving myth about the glorious GB going for many more decades even centuries, possibly 'new light' (tm) may be revealed helping JW's to 'clearly' (tm) see that the number 144,000 is 'aparently' (tm) referring only to the FDS{=GB}. Thus the end may not come until that full number of 144,000 GB members has been attained. (lol--lol)

Plastic buckets in Paradise
by Sour Grapes ini remember one picture of a pretty little girl holding a plastic bucket in paradise next to a tame lion.. i asked my wife if there is going to be polution in paradise?
of course the answer is no!!!!!..
i asked her where did the plastic bucket come from?

Plastic buckets will "magically" appear just like manna "magically" appeared. Oh, and don't worry about the animal crap. It will "magically" disappear the way all signs of 3 million people trecking through the wilderness of Sinai for 40 years "magically" disappeared.

Love all the people...
by new hope and happiness inthere are a lot of topics about religiouse hatred, so on a personal level why do you find it difficult to love or like individuals?.
.

For many of us who have been raised as a JW, it is difficult to love or like individuals because the WTBTS 'poisoned the well' so to speak. Point in case, if our relatives were not JW's, we were basically told that we should not associate with them, i.e. not like/love them because they are part of Satan's system and will lead us astray. The same held "true"with anyone else who was not a JW. So being raised the JW way, we 'isolated' ourselves to an extent and it's damn hard to like/love someone we don't know. Once I woke up and discovered that there is a brave "new world" (tm) out there, I have found it very easy to like/love others. 99.9% of the folks that I have met and now associate with are very likeable, nice people. Learning ttatt is certainly a 'life changing event".

Who's the King of the North & South now?
by prophecor inback in the old days i used to hear talk about these kings.
are they still teaching anything about these kings in daniel as it pertains to the " time of the end?".

Mute point now. Just do as you are told regardless of common sence. Prophecy and doctrine mean nothing anymore and that's why the GB don't dwell on it any more.

Aren't Watchtower literature trolleys and stands illegal?
by jwfacts inin many places it is illegal to set up a stand and sell things in public without council approval.
so why is it that jws can set up their trolleys in busy public areas without being asked to move on?
i saw this article this morning about muslims being asked to stop handing out leaflets in parramatta, because it is illegal.

To me trolly "witnessing" just cheapens the reputation/image of JW's. They are like the organ grinders with the cute little monkeys. (Just make sure you report your hours brothers)

Waking up your spouse
by All for show ini am aware this has to be done quite carefully, but how?
while many may complain and see the hypocrisy within the kh's, maybe even with the gb, how does one bring up doctrine issues?
i surely can not tell my husband to "go look what jwfacts.com says".

What is working for me is to casually remark about things mentioned in the Bible reading that do not sound right or that "sort of" conflict with jw teachings. I have been much more attentive to her since fading simply because I now have the time. My time is not now occupied with 'studying' wt crap that just mindlessly repeats itself. No more fs means time on the weekends to go places and do things together. We ride touring motorcycles together now. I can see that she is not as convinced as she once was and misses many more meetings.
True love for real life is now beginning to dawn on her also----I hope.
