  Toasted daughter: Why Jephthah almost certainly sacrificed his daughter to a complicit Jehovah

  jehovah's witnesses insist that jephthah did not sacrifice his daughter to jehovah.

  this is important to them because, rarther than jephthah just being a random bad person, jehovah was very much in on the deal.

  after all, he made the promise to jehovah that he would "offer up as a burnt offering" on his return the first thing to come out of his house if jehovah would give the ammonites into his hands in battle, and since they were this makes jehovah complicit.. the isrealites had been getting a good thrashing of late, and the gilead elders (oh boy) had come out to ask jephthah, the rejected son of a prostitute (wouldn't you know it) and renown soldier, if he would lead the isrealites into battle for them.. this is when jephthah makes the deal with jehobo, and it all centres on the word for "burnt offering", which is given as "olah".

  At least they didn't cut her up and send a piece to each tribe of Israel like they did to the concubine mentioned in Judges chap 19 vs 29:

  29 When he reached his house, he took the slaughtering knife and took hold of his concubine and cut her up limb by limb into 12 pieces and sent one piece into each territory of Israel. 30 All who saw it said: “Such a thing has never happened or been seen from the day that the Israelites went up out of the land of Egypt down to this day. Consider it, take counsel, and tell us what to do.”

  When I read that bible account from god's inspired word and meditate on it, it really does make me feel closer to jehober!just saying!

  Unbelievable KMS example

  i've been to the kingdom ministry school (for elders) recently and can report that it is mostly the usual mix of cliches and platitudes.

  several letters where basically just read through one line at a time.

  one point early on though almost made me laugh out loud.

  To those of us who were former MS's or Elders, remember how important it made us feel when we got to go to the KMS "for more spiritual training"? Wow we were so special because we got in on all the latest secret sh*t from the wtbts.

  I went to the 'Elders School" in Norco, CA for 2 friggin' weeks back in the early 70's. What a fiasco that was but since Armageddon was only 2 years away, we needed the additional spiritual instruction that would get us through! LOL

  November Is The Cruelest Month

  i have been going through old papers and photographs since my mother passed away.

  it has reminded me of some of the reasons that i really hate november.

  this year has added to it obviously.. thirty-four years ago, my father passed away in early november.

  I lost my mom 11 years ago-----in November also. She was a legend in her own time. Loved and remembered by all because of her generosity beyond belief. She raised all of her children (me included) as jw's and 3 of the 5 have remained jw's-- so far! She was part of the "greatest generation", having lived through the 'great depression', WWll, etc. I still miss her and think about her often and her 'pearls of wisdom'.

  i have not been here in a while, just trying to move on with my life all the while dealing with a very pimi brainwashed wife.. so the other day she started saying that we will have to go our own ways when things get worse with this world.

  she has said this before because she believes that the government will turn on religion and the great and powerful wizards (guardians of doctrine g.o.d.

  ) will call everyone and tell them where to go.. thank god, (no pun intended) i have been out of the loop for such a long time.

  Man oh man, that John has him some good drugs to have all those wild hallucinations that he wrote down in Revelation. But the guys that think they can put a meaning to those hallucinations are even more strung out and delusional, IMHO!

  that;s what my wife (and all jw's) gets to hear about us at the kingdom hall today, (hmmmm, i wonder if she'll raise her hand to answer this one) ... .

  watchtower study ... today, apostates and others who create divisions in the congregation use “smooth talk and flattering speech.” (romans 16:17, 18) they may pretend to care about others, but in reality, they are selfish.. (the watchtower - study edition (simplified version) 10/17 page 4 paragraph 7).

  I really enjoyed paragraph 7 where it talked about David's day and how Ahithophel's friendship proved to be a "fraud" to David! Does the wt even think about the sh*t they put in these study articles.

  I pointed out this very stupid, insensitive reference to my wife on the way home from the meeting! How can the wt even begin to sympathetically suggest that someone was disloyal to David when that sh*t head stole Uriah's wife and then had Uriah set up to be slaughtered!

  Even fairy-tales have a moral lesson I guess!

  Why "Most high"?

  if there were only one god, why do we encounter the expression, "most high god"?.

  is this not indicative of polytheism, and of levels (or degrees) of god-ness?.

  When I much younger, during the 60's, I smoked dope with most of my jw friends, i was "the most high" because i smoked more dope that them. End of discussion!

  Monthly Broadcast for December 2017 is 'replaced by....' - plus more....

  looks like the wt are even reducing the video content nowadays...... no jw tv monthly broadcast for december 2017 - instead it is replaced with the 'gilead graduation part 1' programme.

  issues with translation - apparently replacing the monthly broadcast with the hour long 'spiritual' part of the graduation means that the wt are able to translate it into more languages than before.. plus more.....

  My Personal Study

  my current personal study is about the resurection.besides the nine well known resurections (the son of the zaraphath widow, the son of the shulamite woman, the man whose body touched elisha's bones, lazarus, jesus, son of the widow nain, the daughter of jairus, dorcas and eutychus).

  there was enoch who god 'transfered' so he wouldn't see death and elijah who god took away in a flaming chariot hidden in a whilwind!

  as well as these there were the holy men ofjerusalem resurrected at the same time as jesus.

  Thinking about resurrection doctrine. It's purpose is to restore persons to life so as to bring joy to them and their loved ones! But in the bible account of resurrections, the one that got resurrected, died again so that they and their loved ones would have to suffer death twice!

  jehober is good! No good deed goes unpunished! So death must not be the enemy that we are told it is because jehober would certainly not let his loyal ones suffer death twice, would he?

  the term jehovah’s witnesses sounded weird to me even when i was in that cult.

  why does god need witnesses to prove his existence?

  there is no need for anyone to create a movement called “suns witnesses” or “moons witnesses” – in order to prove its existence and glorify it, because the sun and moon are evident to every species on earth.

  Didn't the 'name' come from a supposed "vision in the night" given to Rutherford? It was probably a booze induced hallucination that created the stupid 'name'. I believe that by changing the name to jehovah's witnesses, was Rutherford's way of creating his own personal religion.
