i’ve been here for many years.
the tone seems to be different in this place.
not so many pissed off exjws .
I was very angry at the beginning of me journey away from the borg. Once i realized that it was basically my own fault that I stayed soooooo long as a jw, I began to heal. The amazing freedom that I now experience each and every day completely over rides the resentment I once had.
I sincerely hope that other "lifers" will one day wake up from the FOG created by the wtbts as well and experience true freedom!

today in liverpool the cart witnesses were in their usual speck in bold street holding out their wafer thin rags and books that they literally can't even give away.
but today the city centre was flooded with some sort of black church handing out their leaflets and little invitations to a "special event" this sunday.
i took a leaflet off them as they handed it to me and they were very smiley and cheerful.

I also used to love it when someone wanted to actually discuss the scriptures.
I used to also like to "discuss" the scriptures with others and at least get their view point on what the bible says. Then one fine day, for some unknown reason after having a very civil and rational discussion with a guy who really knew the bible well, I realized that jw's don't really 'know' what the bible actually says, we only 'know' what the Watchtower says about what the bible says! That day there was a dramatic shift in my jw thinking. Too bad it took me 15 years to get out after that!

the door was knocked very quietly, (the bell ignored) .
two ladies stood there both clutching bibles, a youngish one, early thirties, and an old dear, in her seventies i would guess.. the young one started "we have been asking your neighbours today if they feel there is anywhere to go for reliable guidance ?".
" but pointing to her silver sword i said " but not there though !".
I give a nice "anti witness everyday" by living a happy productive life!

in the movie the wizard of oz, while the whole yellow brick road gang was being addressed by the great and powerful wizard of oz, the dog toto ran off to the side, pulled back on a curtain, and showed that a normal-looking humbug of a person was operating cranks and levers.
for a short while, the normal-looking man kept yanking levers and cranking cranks, and said into the microphone (which made the great and powerful wizard speak the same words) "pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!

this week i visited my sick father in law.. then an old elder from my far away congregation came in for coffee.
did not see him in 15 years.. nice chat.

despite decades of the feminist movement, watchtower's attitude of woman being inferior has changed little, with pauline sexism justified as inspired, on the basis that women are lesser emotionally, intellectually and physically.
jehovah's witnesses seem to accept this with little resistance.
is there anything about the #metoo movement that may wake followers up?
Hopefully women will wake up and leave the borg! And start a movement!

i did a quick search and this doesn’t appear to have been commented on here, but if it has been, i apologise in advance for starting an unnecessary thread.. regarding a change to a song title, the study article on page 7 paragraph 17 of november 2017 watchtower explained, “the change of the title “guard your heart” to “we guard our hearts” was most considerate.

i have never heard anyone say that i was an ex-catholic or an ex-lutheran or an ex-baptist.
they just stop going to their church and don't talk about it.. years after not stepping inside a kingdom hell, many of us still have to talk about being ex-jw's.
