  Interesting That in the Regional Convention They Are Asking for More Volunteers to Bethel

  for those of us who could sit through the program so far, i did find it interesting that they are again asking for people to apply to bethel.. i happened to speak to a friend who called and asked him why they would do that.

  his response was that, well, they need younger people there.. i guess once you are over 50 or something you are eligible to be sent out to pasture..

  Asking for more Bethel applicants is a pure smoke screen. Makes it sound like the organization is growing and prospering. I won't be surprised if there is soon a tuition fee to enter Bethel!

  Prophesy from a JW (and others perspective). What purpose is there in trying to interpretate some of the stuff that you don't understand??

  this is not a jw-bashing thing, but it always seemed odd to me that the "excuse" when things go wrong is that "we have to wait and see how the prophesy is fulfilled" or some other wording.. my question has always been, then what is the purpose of the prophesy if you don't understand it until after the fact?

  isn't that like having a weather forecast but being told that we don't really know what the weather will be until the next day?.

  i'm sure some of the intelligent people here can guide me but in all honesty, i never understood that..

  Prophesy is a fancy way of saying 'trying to predict the future'. It's delusion at it's best! Anyone can be prophet because "even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in while!"

  I'm still waiting on the 1969 wt prophecy about not growing old in this system to be fulfilled! Maybe in wt speak, 73 in not really old!

  In the USA, why so often is the vote for President just a vote against someone?

  in my lifetime, (i will include kennedy even though i was probably breast-feeding at the time), but it seems that there have been relatively few presidents that we vote "for.

  " my list would be kennedy, reagan, clinton and obama.

  i'm not talking about their politics here but who generally got voted for, instead of simply voting against.. any thoughts?.

  I Got Messed Up on My Medications ... I Knew I Had to Watch the Assembly On-Line This Weekend

  what a weekend.

  i have my normal medications to take; one white pill, one purple pill, one blue pill, one yellow pill ... you get the idea.. but having to watch the regional assembly on-line had me stressed.

  i now realized i accidentally took too many of those big purple pills.

  it is a challenge next sunday for them .

  due to starting the convention programme the wt study will be a 30 minute run through ,and deals with this prophecy ... i doubt the younger ones are familiar with it at all bur oldies could debate it at length .we on the look out for the king of the north to enter "the land of decoration" (more to follow,maybe next week).

  this article makes a grand claim in par 2.

  Nice post HB! I've had a similar discussion with my pimi wife and other jw's (who won't turn me in as an apostate). My question/thoughts for them was, how can we be sure that all those ancient writings that supposedly make up the Bible are accurate or even true accounts?

  Of course, they let it be know that jehober made sure that 'his word' would be preserved accurately throughout the centuries. Okay, so I always ask them, "Why then did jehober preserve his word but allow his name to be buried for centuries? How about all those hundreds of thousands that lived and never knew god's name?"

  Food Boxes given out by Society

  anyone else get a food box delivered by local congregation to your door - allegedly by the society?

  weird.

  i looked online and found a couple of youtube channels saying the society is taking food from food banks and giving it only to their congregations.
