I thought I was in the "TRUTH" (tm), but I was really in the "GUESS" (nulite tm). Just saying!

we've all heard the old saying:.
any job worth doing is worth doing right the first time.. but, this would not seem to apply in the only organization on earth claiming to be solely guided by jehovah!.
in the watchtower society, the governing body gathers in a board room and prays, discusses and votes.. presumably the prayer invokes holy spirit of jehovah.

i asked my mother( still very much active).
she said books made from '86 and before would not be online.
so we both looked at her physical revelation book and it was made in 88 so it should be there.

Spot on Terry;
You have articulated, pretty much verbatim, the discussion I had with my, still active, JW wife about 5 years ago. I asked her "How can we glorify God when we preach things that are not TRUTH?"
I also went through the Vietnam War fiasco in the late 60's. Did no prison time but was sentenced to 2 years hospital work and 5 years probation. I lived in the LA area at the time and many of the brothers were starting to receive hospital sentences down there.
I have been a JW since I was 4yo and am now 67. Went inactive about 5 years ago but checked out mentally after 1995 generation change. Many of my JW friends are "concerned" about me not being active any longer. When they try to appeal to me by saying, "But Steve, you were raised in the TRUTH (tm)." I just reply: "No, I was raised as a Jehovah's Witness." Just saying!

i have been noticing in recent threads that people have been observing that the zeal has been waning among r+f jws.
i have observed that most zealous, die hards have gone to foreign lands, or foreign language congregations, leaving the others in the stagnant english congregations.
when you think of it, if you cared at all about bringing people into the cult, you probably would be preaching where it is fertile, the foreign field.
AlphaMan--couldn't agree more. Pick a date, tie it to some ridiculous "Bible" chronology multiplication formula with "overlapping" numbers, throw a dart at the calendar, get all JW's hyped up BUT don't be too specific. JW's NEED a date for 7 to 8 million non-JW's to be bird meat.

hi ; we got a text from one of our children today .
her and her brother are basically are disowning us .
we haven't gone to meetings for a while .
Nothing SCREAMS CULT like shunning family, friends or former members of an organization just because the leadership says so. When I was an elder, I never df'ed anyone just because I thought it was too cult like. Just saying!

nelson mandela has passed on.
he was a symbol of hope and peace to many.
has his life and achievements meant anything personal to members of jwn?.
Sounds like most posters here would not agree with my wife who thinks that Nelson Mandela would have been better off if he had become a JW like his first wife.
Just a small comparison I thought of; Nelson Mandela came out of prison after 27 years with forgiveness and reconciliation in mind. Joe Rutherford came out of prison after only 18 months with revenge in mind. Just saying!

i haven't seen the 2014 yearbook on the jw site yet.
i'm looking to see if the number of partakers has increased again (as it has for many years now).
anyone have a scan of it yet?.
The number of partakers did not significantly decrease for over 40 years, from 1970-2010. But the number of partakers has increased in the past 4-5 years. Just 'replacements' though. Maybe it's just a case of "overlapping" partakers. Just saying!

i am just watching my neighbours across the road putting up christmas lights while their children run around bursting with excitement.
i am feeling all christmassy now.
can't wait for my daughter to come home from uni next weekend so we can go and buy a tree from the garden centre.
It's a great time of the year! Although, as JW's we are taught to look at only the negative things that happen during this time of the year. That is truly sad to look at the negative. I find most people to be friendlier and in a better mood. I love this time of year. Sorry WTBTS, I don't see the negative.
Just saying.

special pleading is a form of fallacious argumentation and faulty logical reasoning.
it occurs when someone is exposed as wrong but rather than admit they were wrong they dream up some rather pathetic and weak excuse for why they are still correct.
one's pride is just too hurt to admit one is wrong.
compound complex;
Thanks for the info. You did your homework. I only figured Rutherford had something to do with it because of his contrairian personality and the timing of the doctrine. I'm still learning little things about the sordid past to the WTBTS. haven't read all the books yet.

check out the watchtower's erroneous definitions/descriptions of evolution and creationism in paragraphs 2 and 3 respectively on page 7 of the october 15, 2013 watchtower:.
"in its basic form, the teaching of evolution asserts that all life came into existence spontaneously.
"on the other hand, fundamentalists of christendom teach that the universe, including our earth and all life on it, is only a few thousand years old.
Does anyone REALLY know how life started? NO, so just accept what you have and do the best with it. Love life, drink wine with friends, tell your wife and children that you love them often, do things that make you happy and feel alive! Don't get cheated in this life because it may be all we have. Just saying!
