"You are still married, and still happy ?"

i met an aging, well, late sixties, pioneer sister a few days back, from a congregation four removes away, and a different circuit to my old congo.

i have known her since i was a kid.. i wasn't quite sure at first if she knew our "status" as we exchanged pleasantries, but it soon became clear she knew exactly our situation, that we walked away a few years ago.. she asked me about my views on life now, and listened respectfully, and said she appreciated my view, but a couple of questions that she threw at me, as in the thread title, showed that she was surprised that mrs phizzy and i had not gone off the rails after we left.. the mind control goes so very deep does it not ?

she was surprised that our marriage hadn't failed, and that we were now happy.. i wonder if she will ever make the connection that the jw org has lied to her about those of us who leave ?.

Hi Phizzy,

My wife is still struggling with the FACT that I'm a much happier and much more balanced human now that I've 'left the troof'. The shackles are broken and no longer do I have to spend endless hours preparing talks, parts for the meeting, study the wastetower and slave for the RBC.

Time to live life and enjoy the fruits of my labor is very rewarding and satisfying. I know that it somewhat bothers my wife that I don't miss all that 'busy work' laid on us by the wtbts. She's of the WT mindset that having fun in "this system" is wrong.

20+ years as an elder, 60 years as a dub and GOD I'm happy that it's behind me. It's almost like getting out of prison after serving a 50 year sentence.

Absolutely, living a happy, meaningful, fulfilling life is the best way to combat the jw mindset that we all go nuts if we leave "da troof".

48 years of marriage, still happy with my wife and still trying to introduce her to TTATT.

What do you think of a Movie about New World

it looks like the movies about end of the days and the fantasy movies are very much in fashion.

do you think a movie about the end of the system and the life in the new system could captivate the audiences?.

after all more than 90 % of americans are christians and say they believe in the bible.

So he dispatched and angel to earth to evaluate mankind. When the angel returned he reported:" God, 98% of mankind are ungodly and only 2% are righteous and worthy."

God said to the angel: "That can't be right". So god dispatched another angel to evaluate mankind. The second angel soon returned and reported: "God, 98% of mankind are ungodly and only 2% are righteous and worthy."

God ,very disappointed, said to the second angel: "That just doesn't make sense.But I must encourage and warn the righteous and worthy ones." So God decided to send an email to the 2%.

Recommended Lodging List

just a few instructions orders from mother about motels.. please use only hotels that appear on the recommended lodging list.

(one page, with only one motel locally).

one nights deposit (credit card, money order, etc.,) is required, and should be sent to the hotel within ten days of making your reservation.

I have actually been able to get a few good deals by using the "recommended rooming list" when visiting New York. Not bad considering the tens of thousands that I have 'donated' over the years to the wtbts.

My brother has helped in the "Rooming Dept" for conventions. Yes, the brothers in the upper echelon do get free rooms from the hotels on the list, according to him. They also get their rooms way ahead of the posting of the rooms on the list.

It's always good to be "big" in the borg!

Seen smoking a cigarette

i won't say i got "caught" because that would imply i was keeping my habit hidden.

i'm tired of constantly doing that with these guys.

yesterday, my friend and i were waiting for some people and decided to smoke a cigarette to pass the time.

Hey Godsendconspirator,

"Abstain from smoke!" Any "scripture" that really and actually forbids smoking? Didn't think so!

Anyway, occasionally, my, still-in, wife will complain to me about my smoking a very occasional cigar. (She doesn't tell anyone else that I have the occasional cigar) I've tried to convince her that it's only a matter of time before jehober reveals to the GB (sooooon) the 'nu-lite' regarding the WT "no smoking" policy. It will soooooooon become a "matter of conscience". After all, I only smoke a "FRACTION" of the cigar. I would never think of smoking or consuming the "whole" cigar. "Research" (lol) has discovered that the real nicotine containing "brown cigar cells" are only carried in the butt of the cigar. By not 'consuming (eating)' the butt of the cigar after you have smoked it all the way down to the butt, you have not violated the Holy Governing Body command to; "Abstain from smoke".

If you have any questions, please talk to the local elders as they will be able to direct you to the Smoking Liaison Committee in your area. The Smoking Liaison Committee will be able to ~~tell you exactly what to do~~ assist you on matters of conscience.

Any Vodka will do, but I like Grey Goose as my "pre-meeting and mid meeting" drink of choice. The edge is off and you can really zone out!

I occasionally go to a meeting on Sunday with my, still-in, wife in order to help her fend off the inevitable, "Tell Steve we missed him" from the friends at the hall. However, since learning ttatt several years ago, I have (need) a few shots of Vodka to help me zone out at the meeting. I mean, the crap that will be discussed at any meeting on Sunday is the same crap I've been hearing for 58+ years. I get a bit nauseated during the WT study, not from the Vodka but from hearing those friggin' parroted 'comments' from otherwise fairly intelligent people. Vodka is my choice as a "pre-meeting" drink only because it has a very non detectable alcohol smell. (I don't really want to offend the friends, just get through the ordeal) I also have a box of those curiously strong Altoid breath mints. lol

Unfortunately, the last 6 months or so, I have found it most helpful to take one of those small, air plane size, bottles of Vodka with me to "down" between the 'talk' and WT. Those tiny bottles fit nicely in the briefcase. So about 3-4 shots over a 3 hour period really helps.

Maybe I'll not got to the Sunday meeting for a month so I can 'dry out'.

Memories. .. share the earliest or most favorite childhood memory

my daughter tells me that experts say children tend to have false memories.

apparently their brain tends to fill things in that may not be totally accurate.. i refuse to believe that my favorite and comforting memory might not be true.

so here is to fond memories real or not.. the earliest memory i have is being put in a crib at a preschool.

Christmas, Halloween and other holidays with our big families. My dad had 8 siblings and my mom had 12 siblings. Dozens of cousins to play with. God those were very happy days, memorable occasions!

And then one day when I was 6 years old, a couple of JW's came to our door and my mom fell for it. The next 55+ years were spent in JW land with hardly any 'truly' happy times (even though JW's are the happiest people on earth) and no big family get together occasions because, of course, the family was 'worldly'. Damn!

Surprise ! Surprise ! 2015 Arrives and NO Armageddon or World's " End " - Go Figure

i guess 99.9 % of ex-jw's here could have predicted as much .

armageddon didn't happen in 1914. it didn't happen in 1925. it didn't happen in 1975. and it did not happen in 2014. since the wt society first predicted a world's end when their organization started in 1879 - 126 years have passed which according to any dictionary in any human language 126 years comprises of 4 separate generations each totaling 30 years each.

plus 6 years into a 5th generation.

What amazes me most about 'life time dubs' is their almost unanimous unwillingness to even broach the subject of the failure---no big A. It's as if they are afraid to speak about their deep disappointment. Because they are afraid. I know from my own experience that there exists much bitterness toward the wtbts for it's convoluted bs that must be accepted as "troof." or else. Geez we were stupid! Well at least we have awakened and are free at last.

Personal Revelations and Ah-ha moments while reading Combating Cult Mind Control

hi everyone, i'm nearing the end of steven hassan's first book: combating cult mind control.

as i was on the chapter which describes 'mini interventions', i had an ah-ha moment regarding wtbs and the stance on two matters which awoken doubts in me earlier:.

college enrollment (on campus housing vs. off campus housing, etc.).

If something is repeated over and over and over and over and over..........again, it 'becomes' truth! At least to those who hear it over and over and over and over again! That's why dubs have soooooo many meetings.

One day, many years ago, a Mormon man once told me, (I was out in service) that JW's have a core of only 75 scriptures that they use about 85% of the time their literature to 'prove' and reinforce their JW teachings. I never did an exact study on his comment, but I'm pretty sure the Mormon church did. If you notice, it is the same scriptures used over and over and over again. Once you 'wake up' you see a lot of things very clearly!
