The only "great tribulation" I see is the one within the wt organization! Yes there is much tribulation with the dubs today and the wt organization's "end is near", I hope!

i don't really engage in doctrinal discussions about jw's anymore.
they seem to say some pretty crazy stuff.
but i have read some threads discussing doctrinal changes and how watchtower is really out of ideas and money at the same time.

i'm one of those who "would never grow old in this system of things".
i was promised that back in 1969-right!
i was 22 then and now i'm a few months short of 70!.
I'm one of those who "would never grow old in this system of things". I was promised that back in 1969-right! I was 22 then and now I'm a few months short of 70!
That being said, my wife and I along with many, many of our long time jw friends and family have "grown old in this system". That means that we all visit the doctors offices much, much more these days. Many of these doctors visits require us to have a blood test done prior to our appointments.
This is where I reverse "witness at every opportunity"! Every time I hear someone say that they are going in to have a blood test, I say,
"Oh, your going to have to violate god's law regarding the sanctity of blood you know"
Or when my wife or I have to go have blood drawn, I remind her: "Well let's go violate god's law on blood today."
Needless to say, my "witnessing" in not well received but as we are so often reminded, sometimes "the truth hurts".

there have been very informative threads on presentations and audience reactions ("thrilled", "emotional") at this summer's regional conventions (formerly district conventions) but little on actual attendance numbers and numbers baptized.
.
or could i be directed to current threads discussing these aspects - i searched but found nothing.
Just got back from the RC in Long Beach , California. Had to take my 89 year old mom. 7,400 in attendance on Saturday, 39 baptized. Percentage baptized is a whopping .52%. Get the hell out of the way, that (make believe) chariot is really moving fast!

“i’ve never seen any properties kept in better shape,” tim says.
“anyone who buys them will be happy that they did and they won’t need to spend a dime on upgrades to infrastructure.” tim, who tells us he attended a breakfast at the white house about a decade ago, goes as far as to say the buildings are better maintained than the presidential residence..
With the end "just around the corner" you have to wonder why all those jw volunteer slaves aren't out preaching, trying to save lives instead of "building up treasures on earth"?
Maybe the gb talked to jehober and he told them to gather "gold and silver" before the "great and fear inspiring day of jehober"
Building bunkers will be the next project for the displaced RBC slaves!

the wts has gone off the rails and is "unrepentantly" hateful.
they are blatantly requiring mothers and fathers to disown/hate their own children that they have loved and cared for since birth simply because they don't comply with the orgs demands.
how is this love?
"None of these families and couples seem to be happy. They have their badges on their clothing as directed. They all seem to be tired, and going through the motions."
You are so right in your observation of how jw's "go through the motions" at convention time. I tend to think of them as dub-bots.
jw conventions are a stressful, expensive event.

my initial pangs of unease and doubt led me to research some things.
well, a lot of things really.
i've never felt comfortable using the bible to try to calculate dates (1914).
Yep, it takes some time to unwind from the cocoon of jw-ism. It's very much like a divorce or the death of a loved one. Hang in there because it definitely is worth the pain and agony to receive freedom at the end of the ordeal. I know, I was a dub for 58 years! It's amazing what lies ahead!

anyone else notice that in the video where the sister was reinstated after many years of freedom, that the congregation applauded at the announcement of her reinstatement?
it been a few years since i was an elder, but when i was, we were instructed by the co that it was "not appropriate" to applaud when the announcement of a reinstatement is made from the platform.
his words, "because the one being reinstated is only doing what they should be doing!".

does anyone know exactly what publications are on the "list" as banned in russia and what the objectionable language is?.
The Russian government probably objects to any publication that talks glowingly about abolishing their government, even if it is a book of fairy tales!

if jehovah hates magic, why is it ok to go to magic theme parks such as disney land the magic kingdom?
i grew up a jw and we all went to disney land and magic mountain.
if jehovah hates magic then why are these places not forbidden?
Same reason he hates birthdays, mother's day, father's day, but he loves wedding anniversary parties, graduation parties, and baptism parties. Do not the later celebrations exalt humans and not god?

every so often something strikes me about the dubs or bible as i read on here or just think.
not all are topic worthy, but i like thinking about things in different ways and when others share little things that struck them.
i'll share two for now, feel free to add your own to the list.. i was thinking the other day about the scripture saying the "for a certainty i perceive that god is not partial".
Some of my random musings; Hope it's not too lengthy.
Growing up a jw’s we were always taught that Jehovah would protect his loyal servants—right? We would often hear some very encouraging experience of how a jw, usually in a foreign country with an anonymous name, narrowly escaped, this or that, due to Jehovah looking over him/her and protecting them. Sometimes stories from the bible or some experiences of how Jehovah protected Rutherford and the 8 brothers thrown in jail in 1916 made a convincing argument. We ate it up!
When a situation would come up or a disaster would happen and loyal jw’s died or were killed, it was explained away that Jehovah may not always protect us as individuals, but as an organization! That explanation never did sound quite right, but we ate it up anyway! Slowly, I began to wonder, why does Jehovah only protect certain ones of his loyal servants and not others? What are the criteria that would qualify a loyal servant worthy to be miraculously protected? Are some just more worthy than others? Are some just more loyal?
I started taking a mental inventory of the things I remember reading in the Bible to see if I could find the answers therein and these are just a few of the things that came to mind right away:
After Satan seduced innocent Eve, why didn’t Jehovah warn Adam to beware of Eve’s disastrous ploy? After all, up till that time, Adam had been a very loyal servant taking care of Paradise!
Why did Jehovah admonish wicked Cain, knowing what he was planning to do to loyal Abel, but not give a heads up to loyal Abel so that he could at least defend himself?
Jehovah; “Yo Abel! Your bro is looking to take you out! Watch your back good buddy!” Remember too that at that time, loyal Abel was the only loyal servant of Jehovah on earth!
Jehovah protected loyal Noah and his loyal family. Why could loyal Noah and his loyal family not save even one “worldly” person before the flood? Was every other person on earth so ‘wicked’ that they need to be drowned?
Why did Jehovah allow extremely loyal Jonathan to be killed right alongside of his very disloyal father Saul? But David, the immoral hothead, gets wealth, fame, and glory and gets to die old and satisfied in years? David must have been more loyaler than loyal Jonathan.
Just too many to post but feel free to add you favorites! One modern event demonstrating how Jehovah protects his loyal ones that really sticksout to me:
Why on November 6, 2013 did Jehovah allow super Typhoon Haiyan to strike the Philippines where very tragically 43 very loyal JW’s lost their lives? But even more puzzling and tragic is the fact that 22 of those loyal servants of Jehovah were swept out to sea while they were gathered together in a Kingdom Hall for worship!
