  How Jesus became God -- forgotten the author momentarily -- but he is American -- shows the Trinity for what it is the - biggest piece of garbage ever -- and it one of the things the WTBTS is correct about

  Preaching work ? could it ever be completed ?

  the saying goes "once the good news of the kingdom has been preached in all the inhabited earth, then the end will come.

  now, only 6,000,000 witnesses, one planet of 6,000,000,000 people, (the jw's amount to 0.1% of the earth's population, man sure annoying for only 0.1%) i don't see, how it would be possible to reach every person or land.

  so many new being born in the world, new subdivisions going up in every city across the planet, conceivably the cycle will never end, therefore the "good news" will never reach everyone.. and, a few threads of late regading going out in service, most people hate it, do as little as possible, count excess hours (donuts, driving time, etc.).

  Hamas you are correct and I bet the figures for China are worse or at least comparable -- though it could be argued with their one child per family policy it is not as bad as India -- but doing the math -- yes it can not be achieved -- and this good news of the kingdom will be preached in ALL the inhabited earth and THEN the ened will come

  what is the stupidest thing a jw ever told you?

  we all know that they say a lot of stupid things, but what really topped the cake?.

  for me, it was an elder telling me i was progressing really well when my meeting attendance was down and my field service hours were slipping.

  The most arrogant thing (OK I know it is not the same as the most stupid thing but--) was an elder (the PO) talking about personal study fromn the paltform and he actaully said if we did more then one day we would become as spiritual as the elders-- it almost mad me vomit that level of arrogance (he was a former CO by the way)

  What did you think of "Simplification" ???

  i know now what was behind many of the simplification procedures that were adopted at the assemblies over the years.

  the books and food were given away to avoid tax problems.

  but what did you think about it when you were a jw?.

  I actually thought simplification was a good idea -- in general it led to less central control -- and I hate the control-freak tendencies of the borganization -- so I was all for it.

  Have The Elders Ever Told You They Needed To Speak 2 You After The Meeting?

  i wonder how many times an elder approached you before the meeting to say, "after the meeting, we would like to talk to you about something".

  you know that feeling-----remember???

  the entire meeting you tried not to think about whatever it was they needed to talk to you about.

  They needed to speak on different occasions for different reasons. Often it was because someone else was in trouble and I had to provide info on them -- quite often it was because someone was spreading rumours about me/family. Often it was because my children were in trouble or someone was saying bad things about them -- they had been drinking etc (often this was actually true).I was up for additional privileges. I had been apointed a MS -- then they approached me because I was to be appointed an elder and they wanted to make sure I wanted the posiition -- and that had not been a bad boy and did not deserve it

  Preaching Slowdown

  i can remember numerous talks and study articles about how the preaching work would get more and more intense as we near the end.. one so called prophetic illustration that stands out in my mind was when joshua and his men marched around the city each day and then just before the city fell they marched seven times signifying a quickening of the preaching work.. it seems starkingly obvious that the preaching,is in decline amonst jw's,the jw's are seen less and less often in my neighbourhood,it is very rare to see them out street witnesing around the town centres and railway stations,the average jw spends far less time preaching than a decade ago.. it seems like their chief brag is definately on the wain,in favour of other recruitment methods.

  i was the prime example, if you looked in the dictionary under double life, my face would be right next to it!

  i would party on saturday night, and drag my butt to the sunday meeting hungover.

  does anyone here know how hard it is to answer a question during the wt study hungover?
