Fading?
by neverin ini have been lurking here for about 2 years now and have decided to 'come out' of lurkdom.
a brief history - although i have never attended meetings my dad and 2 brothers are elders - mom has never been 'in the truth', dad joined when they had been married about 10 yrs.
anyway cut to the chase - i was abused by my brothers friend - i was 10 her was 22 - and i only told my parents 2 years ago, aged 32. the whole mess is a very long story and perhaps i will take the time to tell all in the future.

Could be -- it is amazing what is the final straw for a lot of people including elders -- for some it is not one thing but a whole series-- but I would not mind betting that he is one a bit like me -- who gradually is not bothered about missing afew meetings , next to go will be Saturday morning field service, then he will possibly resign as secretary but saty an elder for a while -- there could be a whole range of scenarios --I am sure I speak for my fellow posters on this board when I ask -- please keep us informed of what happens. By the way I am appalled and really sorry to hear about the abuse you suffered. I hope you can start healing somehow

WOULD YOU PREACH TO A DOG???
by minimus inthis little gem is from the watchtower, january 15, 2000...."in el salvador, one man tied his vicious dog in front of the door whenever he saw jehovah's witnesses nearby.
the man would wait for the witnesses to move on, and then he would bring the dog back into the house.
the brothers were never able to speak to the man.

In fact minimus -- come to think about it - when the pioneers read about that one I am suprised many more did not start talking to any old dogs -- whilst out on a picnic, streets, their own back yards -- what a great way to count your time and get those precious hours in

But JJ, it can't be an urban legend. It was printed in the Watchtower, so it must be true. Absolutely minimus --there is never any lies printed there

If You Could Take "It" Back, What Would "It" Be???
by minimus inanything that you've regretted, that "if only" you could take it back, you would??
?

Minimus I never had to do that -- but I know someone who did -- it was the beginning of the end for me -- I will not give too many details and I do not want to drift off the post -- but sister (ex pioneer totally unblemished record) husband a jerk -- totally ignored her and many other things -- but his father an elder and one of the "in crowd". Sister for years begs for a shepherding call and help --but none given -- she makes one mistake -- a worldy guy pays her some attention -- guess what -- the elders could not get off their ass fast enough to form a JC --within 3 days she was disfellowshipped --it made me sick to the pit of my stomach

The Star, God's Plan or Malicious Plot of Satan?
by ignorance is strength ini'm not talking about stars in general; such a subject about stars in general would be ridiculous.
i'm specifically talking about the star that the three magi saw that led them to jesus.
the wt holds that this was a malicious plot of satan's to bring jesus to herod.

Now come on -- you know as well as I do that everything in dubdom is the fault of Satan -- from the talking snake in the garden of Eden to that damn star -- by the way -- here is another JW Urban legend --- A sister who was pioneering and I think her husband was also -- got pregnant -- she then said to the circuit overseer -- look what satan has done to me (to stop her pioneering) and the CO said "That is not a nice way to talk about your husband -sister - is it?" The CO had to point out Satan is not responsible for everything even when it stops the person pioneering -- it actually was the result of her and her husband not being totally careful when having sex. It is a true story!

Definitely GETTING BAPTIZED - because now I am baptized I can get disfellowshipped
If there are other things I could take back (all whilst I was an elder)
Disfellowshipping a sister for fornication
Disfellowshipping a brother for fornication
Disfellowshipping a sister for smoking marijuana -- I could go on

If that does not work, then drive her away by masturbating very loudly as often as possible. Hell... even get yourself the loudest vibrator you can find to help with the effect.

conversely, i really would like to know what the younger ones here think are the must -hear songs for every generation.
without my daughters in my life, i don't get to hear the better offerings of the new artists.

Did you really believe?
by barbar ini am interested to know whether jw's or ex jw's on this board really did believe 100%.
did you have doubts all of the time, did you have some confusion or did you never doubt at all?
i recognise that most on this board will have had doubts at the end but was this always the case when you were a good dub?

No I never truly believed everything -- but like an idiot, I thought if I wait on Jehovah then in his due time, all will be corrected and put right-- come to think of it I was more naive than an idiot.
