In my old hall the elder would stopr schedualing you for talks if you cancelled two assignments back to back.
I was so relieved when I found this out. :)
I guess he thought it was really a privilege. -

I stopped going in the spring of 1999. A "sister" made a comment during WT study that to this day, I believe was directed at me.
The sister was (I'm sure still is) a known gossiper just like her mother and elder step-father. Her step-father was one of the elders in my JC meeting. And about two weeks later she made a comment that hit so close to home and then looked over in my direction.
I left that day and never went back. I was too embarrassed. I always said I would just go to another hall but never did. Then 4 years later when I was actually considering what to do regarding my life and the j-dubs I found this board. Now my J-dub life is just history.
So in answer to your actual qiestion: I have been in active 6 years.
Technically 8 years if I count all the phony field service reports.
Welcome again Tyler. -

I was just reading Tyler's (new member)bio. He was baptized at 11 years old. Jesus Christ! I thought I was young.
When he was df'ed at 13 his father had to step down from his elder position. My question is this:
If a person, child or adult is mature enough to be baptized then why is the parent/husband responsible for their family member's mistake. Why must the elder suffer the concequences by being forced to give up his position?
A person who gets baptized become responsible for their own actions no matter how old they are. As proof in Tyler's case and many others he was df'ed at 13.
This to me is another JW contadiction and one reason I believe minor children should not be baptized.
A parent is stripped of their "privleges" because the child or wife who is supossedly responsible and knows better makes a mistake. -

Welcome Tyler.
I just read your bio. I must say I wish I was as bright as you at 13. I fed into all the JW nonsense up until very recently.
Welcome again!!! -

Prophecor: I saw Shall we Dance and it was great. As purplesofa said the original foreign film was great too, even better.
So if you can stans subtitles I say rent it. You are going to love it.
But again, the english version was made surprisingly well.
The Intepreter is on my list as well as Crash.
Thanks for all the recommendations everyone.
May I recommend Hotel Rwanda? It was a great film and very moving story. Like the Pianist it get you thinking, wondering if you have the courage, stength to save yourself and others.
It really is a must see. -

Sorry no Hitch for me. I am not a Will Smith fan at all. I do not think he is funny, not even a little. Thanks for responding.
