Does anybody care to explain it to me. I don't know why but I just cannot get into. I like sports, I watch basketball, baseball, soccer but football..... Just cannot get into it. I never care enough to try and understand the game, the rules.
Why are they running over the lines on the field and not with them? LOL Ok, I understand that part.... but honestly not till a few years ago.
I just see everyone excited and having a good time watching it and I want to as well.
I'm trying to watch the Redskins game right now but it is sooooo boring.
I think it is just too confusing for me to get into. I can't ever tell who has the ball because there are so many players on the field.

Hi Stilla.
I wouldn't say I'm bitter. Sometimes I think I dwell to much on my JW past. But I do not talk about it as much anymore to just anyone.
I really think you hit it right on the head about the society being like an abusive parent. That is exactly how I see it. I met an ex-jw last night and she was saying how she still finds herself defending Jehovah's Witnesses when somebody talks badly of them.
I told her the same thing, it's like having an abusive parent. We all react in different ways. Some of us have anger and hatred and some of us are hurt and confused and find ourselves defending the very ones who failed us. Does that make sense?
Like the others said we all go through stages. It is very much a grieving process for most of us. You go through different stages of anger, hurt, disbelief, regrets and if you are on the right track eventually you pull through and start to feel a sense of hope.
I feel like, at almost 30 yrs old, I am dreaming about my future for the first time. I mean for the first time in my life I am excited, truly excited about my life and the future.
I do regret that it took so much time for me to wake up and I do fault the teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses for that. But I know that I am responsible for me now, and by dweeling on my loss and not doing anything to make me better is only going to make things worse.
As a witness I was never taught to dream about a future and what I could do with my life. It's always about "tomorrow is Armegeddon" so go knock on doors and warn others. Don't worry about your future, Jehovah will take care of you. You don't need college, don't you trust in Jehovah and his promises?
Any ambition or dreams were stolen from many of us. That is my saddest regret about my witness past.
So I try to plant little seeds into my nieces and nephews minds. I talk to them about school and when I see potential in them I point it out and encourage them to pursue it or whatever else that may interest them.
My 9 year old niece loves animals and used to say she wants to be a pet detective like Ace Ventura. LOL
So I always talk to her about animals and give her books to read. I tell her how she can become a Vet if she wants or an animal trainer, run an animal shelter, or anything I can think of that involves animals.
I hate that my nieces and nephews are being raised just like I was in the JW world. That really hurts. -

Thanks Pauline, I appreciate you sharing with me.
Below is what I posted yesterday after I called the WT in New York.
Ok, I just called the WT in New York. I should have recorded the conversation. And I should have been more prepared. I was pretty much speechless. Now, please forgive me this isn't in order.
The guy (I didn't get his name) said yes we were signed up but it was only for access to the Library. He laughed and tried to make it seem like it was no big deal. He said after some time of using their press room, one day somebody told them that they couldn't use it any longer. They said if they signed the form for access they could use it. So the witness signed and was allowed in.Now these are not exact words but it is preety much what this moran was saying. Then he rambled on and on how they had no idea what they signed until later it was brought to their attention. LOL
God I'm so stupid, while on the phone I was thinking well that could be possible. I didn't even ask a lot of questions, this guy was ready and must have heard them all. He interrupted me when I did try to speak.
He said they have always published things about the UN and their view has never changed and I and others just don't have a balanced view about what the scriptures say regarding government.
He said they never were politically involved and the only reason was to gain access to information that couldn't be found anywhere else at the time they signed up.
I'm sorry everyone for not being able to ask the right questions and make that bastard stumble over his words.
I did catch him on one thing but he tried to sugar coat that as well. At the end of the conversation I asked him isn't it true that three board members had to sign the DPI application. He said yes. (in a tone that said, sure they did, what's the big deal about that?)
So I said and not one of them read through the information to see what was involved? He then said well I'll quote to you what it said: he read the part of the information that said something about being a DPI member isn't actually member status for the UN. I don't remember exactly what he read. I have a poor memory.
Somewhere in the conversation I said it really is hipocritical that you talk badly about the UN and then ask them for their help. He went on how it was necessary to further kingdom interest and ok because it wasn't political. He said the witnesses need credibility in this world.
This conversation is all chopped up. Again I am sorry.
Also, when the WT rep was telling me how one day they were no longer allowed access he made it sound like the wt researcher just singed a form right there on the spot and was allowed access.
I should have called him on this but I didn't.

UN Coverup... Help?
by sandy ini would like to write to the wt and ask them about their former un status.
does anybody out there have a letter that they wrote and that i could kind of use as an outline or even copy, if you don't mind?
you can post it here or pm me or even email me at [email protected].

The WTS’ problems are not so much what they teach (except for a few things) but the fact they aren’t guided by their own teachings.
Well said. I wish I could have said something like that to the rep when we were on the phone.

To scholar: re: child abuse
by Lady Lee inin another thread you posted the following:the whole child abuse issue is simple apostates in their desperation trying to make something out of nothing for they delight in creating controversies and making mischief.
i was one of those victims.
it isn't a "delight".

If it didn't happen to me I would probably say the same thing as you, scholar. I didn't report it to the elders until I was already an adult, but nonetheless the elders were very wierd about the whole matter.
My abuser admitted the abuse and apologized to me. But the elders made it clear that they were disfellowshipping him for his drinking problem and not child molestation.
They said too many years have gone by and there wasn't anything they could do as far as punishing the abuser for child molestation. Can you believe that!!!
This shocked and baffled me for quite awhile until Blondie and Lady Lee both clued me in on the matter. The elders will do whatever they can (at the urging of the FDS) to hide abuse within the congregation. They tried to hide the sexual abuse and they had a cover story, Alcoholism. Blondie informed me that when a person is disfellowshipped the elders have to report the offense, in writing, to headquarters. I don't have the "hard copy" but I am sure they only reported alcoholism to the "society"
I don't know about you but I think Child Abuse is far worse than getting drunk in the privacy of your own home each night. -

Service Meeting Week Starting January 2, 2006
by TheListener insong 5. note: congregations are not to move their service meeting for the week of january 2 to an earlier night unless the circuit overseer is visiting.
in every congregation, the convention insert should be considered on the service meeting as scheduled.
if there is a circuit assembly this week, book study overseers should announce the convention location and dates at their regularly scheduled book studies.

Here in So Cal my former congregation only had about a 30 to 40 minute drive to the convention site. But there were always thos "cool crowds" who had to book hotel rooms. God forbid them having to drive each day with the rest of the common folk.
I always thought it was kind of selfish of them taking away rooms from others who had to drive a hell of a lot further to the conventions.
One guy used to call during the meetings, immediately after they read the announcement.
I can't believe I used to be friends with that pompous a-hole. -
