Watchtower lunacy, circa 1950's
by logansrun inin the long and unusual history of the watchtower society there are many doctrines and rules that would make one wonder if the originator of them was high on crack or just escaped from the loony bin.
why, just by using the "search" feature on your watchtower cd-rom and typing in the most innocuous of words will many times lead to the most outlandish article that your imagination could ever conjure up.
i just typed in the word "hats" and see what i found...

My Becoming a JW
by Juliana ini was raised non-religious.
i don't call myself an atheist as such because i don't like to label anyone, but i don't actually believe in god (though i am christian in background, and several branches of family family are roman catholic).
my fiance knows this.

Dear Scooby: It always saddens me to hear of a marrage breakup. And as a person who was married for 15 years I can relate to the pain you must be feeling. I agree with Robdar and Pettygruder, your ex's reasons are BS! Another example of the guilt driven control crap from J-dud Central! This guy sounds like he'll crash and burn soon enough! Don't be part of the pit crew when that happens. You deserve better. Yours in peace, Maverick

Lulu: Be true to your nature. If you see yourself as the type of person that helps other without regard to payback, then let that be your motivation. This person appears to be unstable and weak, so be it! The next time you help her, and I hope there is a next time, come right out and tell her you know she will disown you when she has recovered. You are just better than that. How would you feel if she became dispondent and harmed herself because you took the same stand as those phony, nonchristains she is apart of, and no one helped her? Anyone heard about this?
by fairy in.
i was talking to my sister in law and her brother is an elder and he reckons that they have just been told that if anyone reports any child abuse or molestation issus to them then "it has to go straight to the police".
that seems to mean the elders report it or they recommend that the victim reports it to the police

As in all other matters with the Society, this is CYA. All corporations put policies in writing as a show of compliance, but the word goes out, by the CO in most cases, as to what each body of Elders should do in each case. The order of importance, number one; Protect the Org. from liability. Number two; Protect the Orgs. reputation. Number three; Protect the Orgs. interests, and a very distant fourth; protect the victim, (as long as the first three protections are not compromised.) Maverick

Kilroy2, If two Elders came by then they were on a fishing exp. After 9 years they are not looking for you to come back. They want to netralize you. They will lie to you as to looking up answers to your questions. They have no problem lying to someone they think is not worthy of telling the truth to. You talked bad about 'mother' and all is fair my friend! These clowns are not done with you, lock and load! Maverick

Dear Inky: As with all the lovely people who have reached out to you on this post, my heart is with you. We love our children, worry about them, fear for them, but at some point we have to let them make their own mistakes. Be strong in the knoweldge that you have taken a higher road. Shed your tears, feel that sorrow that only a mother can endure, and take some small comfort in the knoweldge that we all share this pain with you. Your most humble servant, Maverick
