now i've been around the borg for quite a long time (not recently thanks god).
but one thing i could never understand was the borg's rule for hair on men.
i think the borg's simple minds are just too limited for this world.. i only know of two brothers who i ever saw wear a beard.
As far as hairless goes, I shaved my head completely because I was losing my hair and grew a goatee before I faded away. Neither was looked upon to highly.
Everyone says I look very good with a shaved head and goatee, but the elders would have rather I'd been clean shaved with hair wings on the side of my head and a few sparse strands sticking up on top. But that's just not the look that someone in their 20's is going for these days.

Really people, I skim through this site every few days and I'd say that about 30% of the threads are usually about something non-witness related. What's so much worse about this one than one of the countless other miscillaneous threads. Just don't like dogs maybe?

after three days of deliberations, the jury couldn't reach a verdict on morse.
So, did you all decide whether or not it would be ok to use force on someone who grabbed your nuts and wouldn't let go, or not? Maybe a calm, "please let go of my testicles, that hurts" would work. Or maybe to show proper self control, cops should sqeeze each others nuts for 30 minutes each day so that they are ready when it happens and by that time maybe it'll feel good and he could calmly say "please don't let go of my nuts, I'll just get in the back with you."

would it bother you if your mate gained more than a few pounds after the start of your relationship?
would you feel like your significant other changed on you and turned into a different person?
My wife comes from a large family. Her parents and siblings both have a hard time with weight issues. Her mother, father and sister have all been up to about 300-350 pounds before.
My wife was about 120 pounds when we started dating, which was pretty skinny. Eventually she got all the way to 180 pounds after we had been married for awhile. It never made me feel mad or cheated and I didn't discuss her weight with her because she was very self conscious about that subject.
After awhile she decided to do something about it and started working out regularly. She's dropped 45 pounds and now she's an excercise fanatic. She works out doing high impact aerobics at the local gym 6 times a week and on top of that she lifts weights 3 times a week. She's still self conscious about her weight and I have to tell her at least 5 times a day that she looks beautiful and doesn't need to lose any more weight. She's still not satisfied with her weight even though she has a body like Beyonce from Destinies Child. But I like it.
I hope she can't get any skinnier.
can people be single and happy?
the older i get the more i believe that being single is the way to go.there are so many advantages.just to name a few;.
you can finish that college degree, go to the neighborhood bar anytime, do charity work, join a night class, stay out all night, flirt with anybody you please.
I've been married for 5 years and we lived together for 2 years before that. I enjoy being married myself. For four straight years my wife and I worked at the same job and went to college, took the same classes and got the same degree. We were literaly together almost 24/7.
I like our situation right now where we work seperate jobs, but during our four year stint together day and night we hardly ever got into any arguments and were perfectly happy being together. We were both disfellowshipped and basically only had each other, because we still kind of believed the witness version of the "truth" but didn't want to go back because we didn't feel it was quite right. We didn't really fit in with non-JW's and we couldn't talk to our old witness friends.
We were told several times by people that they couldn't be around another person for a long period of time like we could. But really, as bad as people made it sound, being together was exactly what we needed. Who knows, if we hadn't gotten together in the first place we'd probably have never left the JW's
for those of you who believe in god, and i know this may sound like a silly question, but what was he doing before he created jesus, the first thing he ever made.

zillions upon zillions of years.
The only way that I could comprehend something being around forever is if time doesn't apply to it. Maybe time only applies to humans and the earth. I remember boggling over the question of how god could live forever when I was a young child.
It just didn't make sense to me, because even if he started creating things a zillion google to the billionth power years ago and the universe has exploded and imploded millions of times, what was he doing before that if time actually does apply to him and he has actually existed forever? That would mean that before he created anything, he was floating around in nothingness for longer than anyone can imagine, basically forever in the past.
Just one of the many reasons that I don't particularly believe in a Jehovah god. Maybe there is something, but I highly doubt it's the god the bible speaks of.

so what's the funniest bit of slapschtick you've seen or heard of witnesess pulling while getting in the time quota?
I remember going to the door with one of my friends. I told him that it was his door and I wasn't going to be talking. He said ok, so he knocked on the door and a man came to the door and my friend just stood there with a smile on his face and didn't say anything, he turned to me and I just stood there not saying anything. So this confused guy stands there for about 30 seconds while we are all looking at each other in complete silence and then finally he just shuts the door.
This other one doesn't really have to do with service, but when I look back on it, it was funny. My mom had taken me and my brother and one of his friends to the mall around christmas. I was about 15 and my brother was 4. He saw the line to sit on Santa Claus' lap and he shouts over and over at the top of his lungs for everyone to hear. "Santa Claus is a FALSE GOD !!!!!! I was embarrased beyond belief at the time, but it's pretty funny now.
for 3 months now i've had a work related project to write and complete, its due in this coming monday, and still i haven't even started it, i just can't seem to get my ass in gear ever with this sort of thing .
occasionaly i've looked over it, thought about what i'm gonna write,.......... then just shoved it to the back of my mind for another week.
all the time i've been getting more stressed as the deadlines been approaching.
I got my talks up as I was giving them. My dad on the other hand never understood procrastination. He was one to do things the second he got the assignment or the second something happened. If it was windy outside and a tree limb fell, the next thing you knew he was outside with the chainsaw cutting it up. If the fence got a hole in it, he'd run to the store the second he found out to get the replacement pieces to fix it.
His motto was to get things done as soon as they happened in order to be ready whenever anythinng else happened. My motto, on the other hand, is the longer you put something off the less you'll remember about it next year.
while the multiplex movie theaters are running "terminator 3" and the like, my husband and i seek out different fare.
three small independent movies which we recently saw are, "winged migration", about the migratory patterns of various birds -- amazing.
some species travel l2,500 miles each way from north to south poles and back again.
Heheh, you all act like you can't like both genres. I'm not sorry to say that I liked Terminator 3, Spiderman, and the Matrix. But that doesn't mean I don't like Indie films and documentaries as well. Do you all think it makes one less of an intellectual if they do like the mainstream Hollywood movies instead of the more realistic indie films and documentaries?
well, after a 15 month absence from the kingdom hall, i once again found myself in the biggest kingdom hall of all the district convention.
as in previous years, the material presented was dull and repetitious, so once again, i was forced to provide my own entertainment.
