I'll add to that
10. Out of the organization, depressed and living at home with JW parents
i don't know if this strange phenomenon is unique to my family but it seems that those who have left the truth have little to no interest in reaching out to those family members who have also left the religion.. it seems topsy turvy to me.
surely, there would be common ground and mutual support for those leaving/have left but this does not seem to be the case.. does anyone else have this problem?.

Thanks SafeAtHome for your comment, it makes sense, I think if you were closer as a family before you left there's more chance of regaining that closeness with any members of the family that leave in the future.
Blondie, yes, you're right, some want a complete break with the lifestyle, even if that means ignoring other family members who have left. It just seems strange to me. It's almost in reverse, like when we were witnesses there could be nothing better than having other witness family members, but my family who were all JWs at one time couldn't stand each other - I suppose I expect too much of people after they quit.

it was the summer of 1999. there i was sitting at the assembly when the speaker announces a new publication -daniel's prophecy or something like that.. there were a lot of eager dubs waiting to get their hands on that book.
we might learn the identity of the "king of the north"!
that's what i wanted to read, though in fact all the society had to say about that was "we are wise not to speculate".. looking back, it seems like this was the last book to properly address the end times prophecies - i didn't feel that way with the isaiah books, they simply regurgitated old stuff and made the anointed fit into every prophecy isaiah ever uttered.. it seems like the organization has gone on auto pilot, cutting costs, lowering print output and providing "how to live and function in the organization" books.. .
LeavingWT,
I'm saying it's the last book published to address the end times, and no, the book is definitley not accurate.

i find it interesting that samuel herd (as co) promoted the book angels and women in his talk "fear of giants".
he called it a fascinating book, once you pick it up you cant put it down without reading it from cover to cover!
he also mentions that russell wrote the foreword of the book and that it can be found in the gilead library.. .

During a small expedition in the Anti Libanus mountains in Syria c.1869 a discovery was made in a small cave of an ancient manuscript written in antediluvian script. No one in the group was able to decipher it and due to the presence of the husband of Agatha Christie [who was working with British secret service ]the discovery was kept quiet.
The only person known to the group who had the ability to translate antediluvian script was Miss Ann Eliza Brainerd of St Albans, Vermont who had married John Gregory Smith who was also from St Albans, Vermont, in 1842; now Mrs J.G. Smith. The manuscript was therefore posted to her in Britain where she was residing at the time, later she returned to St Albans.
During her periods of translation she was known always to acconpany this skill by listening to beautiful music. Venus [peace] is a prime example of this and tends to provide an Edenic atmosphere. Discovering that this was a Diary of events before, during and after the Great Deluge, she decided to name it after the woman who wrote it; Seola .
Once complete, it was published in 1878 and a copy of it was given to her good friend Charles Taze Russell who remarked that if revised; “it would be beneficial for all, due to the fact that it presents the origin of those responsible for spiritism.” So he approached a close acquaintance, George Brenison who agreed to do just that. It was revised and re-named ‘Angels and Women’.
By the time it was published in 1924 Charles Taze Russell had died. Then in the Autumn of 1978 an american by the name of Jim Risoli and his wife were providing home care for an elderly woman by the name of Edith Brenison of 29, Church Street, Holliston, Massachusetts. During this short stay Jim was offered a box which when he oened it, found that it contained a number of books with a royal blue cover and a title in gold lettering; Angels and Women.

and a related question, what work is there in heaven.
if everything in heaven is instant and requires no work, where is the satisfaction in that?.
with the first question, we are a prodoct of random replication of various genetic code, and later we develop differences due to our environment and up-bringing.
The question of how sin can arise in a perfect world for example, one could say in human terms, it could be blamed on freedom of thought and the randomness of ideas which spring to our minds; the same cause behind our creativity???
Yes, I totally agree with this one, freedom of thought and freedom to choose

They're not all the same. You have the Serpahs, Cherubim and Celestial order.
I suppose their makeup is different from each other.
Angel means messenger so that gives you an idea of what they do. The higher orders likely have more responsibilities.
my jw friend says she experienced demons act on their own behalf even before she became a jw.
she supposedly used to be an atheist, but her experience with demons led her to believe in the "spiritual realm" before she ever encountered jw's.
she says her ex-boyfriend & his friend used to do the ouija board & as a result have a demon following them around.
The Devil sometimes has a way of making believers out of those who doubt the supernatural experiences of others.
The fact that some have experienced "demons" and others haven't tells you that a selection takes place. For some it might be what they bring into the home. Others may dabble with the ouija board and for some, it's the luck of the draw; they just happened to be picked.
