Our congregation is close to NY Bethel, we had three Bethel couples. The brothers were elders in Bethel and the congregation.

I've not seen them for four years - elder puts Memorial invite on my door
by truthseeker ini just came back from shopping, was about to pull up in the driveway and noticed an elder from my old hall and his young child working the territory.. i waited till they left and parked.
i noticed i was the only one who got a memorial invite, none of my neighbors got one.
so they weren't working the territory but stopped by to give me an invite.

Hi, we were supposed to move to another hall and do the slow fade. I made the mistake of not asking for my cards to be moved to the new congregation; I thought this was automatic, but it's the publisher that has to request this.
After a few weeks the elders got suspicious that our cards were still in our old hall so they made inquiries and found out we stopped going. We still live in the territory.

I used to be on good terms with this elder but he has not phoned, emailed or visited since we became inactive.
I've been out for four years, was just starting to forget and every now and then I get a reminder of my old life.
I can't stand any of them.

An elder who gave a public talk on the subject of Christ's rule said, "it takes time to set up a Kingdom"
Funny how the democrats can do it in 4 years...

Mustaine, with Metallica for a time in the 1980s before launching Megadeth, has gone through several battles with drugs and alcohol. He’s also sustained neck injuries from the “head-banging” of hard rock, as well as an army injury.
He explained how he had been baptized as a Lutheran as a child, but then his mother became a Jehovah’s Witness.
“They don’t celebrate Christmas. That sucked,” he said. “They don’t celebrate birthdays, which sucked. I couldn’t have friends that were normal people, because they were ‘of the world.’”
“I felt really empty. The drugs weren’t doing it. The alcohol wasn’t doing it,” he said.
Those factors would alleviate his desire for something, but only for a short time, he said.
It was like “peeing in your pants on a cold night. It feels good for a little while, but it’s not a long-term solution,” he said.
He sought out friends he knew to be familiar with Christianity.
“I started to make amends to people I had harmed. I am enemy-free right now, which is a great feeling,” he said.

Do you know JWs who have never been happy in the truth?
by truthseeker inhappiest people in the world?
consider my own family.
i have jw relatives who gave up everything, moved to where the need was greater and they have never been happy.. they've been constantly in poor health, suffered with depression and had feuds within their own jw family.

Happiest people in the world? Far from it. Consider my own family. I have JW relatives who gave up everything, moved to where the need was greater and they have never been happy.
They've been constantly in poor health, suffered with depression and had feuds within their own JW family. They've done nothing but complain about everything in the congregation. Upsets, bickering, scandal, you name it.
So for all their decades of faithful, sacred service, are they truly happy? Content? They're as miserable as they ever were. And the only thing they have to look forward to is the new system.
Does anyone else have friends/relatives who gave up everything for the Kingdom and never found real happiness?

Let's get this PERFECTION thing out into the open
by Terry inperfection implies two things: a purpose and a tool for the purpose.. the fork, by itself, is neither perfect nor imperfect.. a fork is perfect for eating peas but imperfect for eating soup.
the purpose and the tool must match.. people are not, of themselves, imperfect.
they are suited for or not suited for particular purposes.. .

Terry,
Perfection is not like being a robot that does all things perfectly in a controlled environment, rather it is coming to a knowledge of God's laws, then upholding those laws by not breaking them.
It is the breaking of law that is to miss the mark of perfection. When you learn a law, you are not willingly going to break it.
I do not think that God expects us to reach perfection in the present age. It is the next age that teaches and furthers the path to perfection.
Sinning willfully is what God forbids but believers cannot stop to analyze every single they do, but if they did, they would become bogged down in their ability to function daily.
God recognizes the pitfalls of being under outside tempters. Our job is not to analyze every aspect of our lives in this present age but to pray that we do not come into temptation, and if we do, then pray that we be delivered from its clutches.
Perfection has a lot to do with knowledge, but in various degrees. The Ten Commandments were a summary of God's will and what He expected of us. More laws came that expounded on the original ten. This is because of circumstances that revolve around life in creation.

Kudos to Mary for saying what many of us probably wanted to say.
I believe in life after death. Our soul is our mortal human container inside which resides is our spirit, celestial energy, which is who we are, our consciousness. Your spirit is connected to this container via a silver cord or particulate energy.
NDEs and Astral Projection is where you temporarily leave your fleshly container and go travel or whatever that is why you can see yourself in the hospital bed, but you are still connected to your body via the cord.
I don't care whether anyone here believes it or not, this is what I believe, and no, it's not something that can be dissected under a microscope.
I remember someone telling me, that when you are close to death, your life flashes before your eyes, supposedly these are your memories being uploaded to your new "body", rather like packing and unpacking a suitcase.
1 Corinthians 15:36 " Foolish one! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies."
It is the mortal container that dies and just as the fallen angels shed their mortal containers to flee back into the spirit realm, people will be transformed to a spirit body in a similar way. Your fleshly container will die without your spirit giving it life-support, but you will be transformed into an incorruptible spirit body. That means that your new body will be beyond harm in the spirit realm for flesh cannot survive on the other side, it must die off during the transformation process.

Are You A Screwed Up Adult Because You Were A Witness?
by minimus inor did it not matter that you were ever a witness---you're a bit screwy, anyway?.
-
truthseeker
I was thinking about this today Min, and yes, I do feel that I've been screwed up because I've been a JW for over 30 years.
I feel cheated to be honest, lost out on many opportunties that I could have had if I was never a JW.
And now I'm in my 30s, I feel like a late bloomer, having to learn everything that people already know.
For those of us unlucky to be born into "the truth", there are days when I wish I could go back, not for the boring meetings, but because I had a sense of belonging, now I have nothing, some would say well you're a free agent now, and I am, but I feel like I have freedom without friends.
