normally i don't go in for these conspiracy theory ideas, but a comment by kurtbethel on another thread got me to thinking.
might this latest dvd actually be proof that there are operatives inside watchtower hq who are deliberately sabotaging the society's material?

about 10-12 years ago, some of the young pioneers in my hall moved to london because they thought the ministry would be more exciting than the poorly supported field service groups in my sleep town in sussex.. i was thinking the other day what became of them.
i know that one is now an elder and married, the other one i'm not so sure about.. one of my relatives once said that the truth is more exciting in london, people are warmer, there's more opportunities for young witnesses.. if you lived in the uk, perhaps in the south of england, was it a fad for some of the youth to move to london where they thought the ministry was more exciting?
have they left or are they still in?.
Many years ago, I think around the mid 1990s, we had a sister move to our hall from London. She was probably in her early 30s at the time. Very bubbly and outgoing and her enthusiasm was contagious.
She managed to persuade our Saturday field service to have a pint after the ministry! I thought she was cool. I went to her house a few times for parties. Unfortunately, some of the local leadership had it in for her and she soon left.

ChickenLittle,
Thanks for sharing your experience.
I know of two young pioneers who moved to Brixton and house share. It keeps the bills down and probably allows them to work part time so they can remain in full time service.
I was in the Herne Hill area once and didn't feel safe at all!
It did seem that the friends, and I use that term loosely, had more fun in London than my cold, boring congregation in Sussex. The JWs I mentioned at the beginning of this topic really did like the ministry but they felt unsupported by their congregation.
One thing I did notice is that they would do their own thing on Saturdays. They would come to our home for field service and then disappear after the prayer, having previously made their own arrangements. We never saw them again until the following week. They generally worked with each other and never bothered to work with anyone else. Sometimes they would bring friends from other congregations.
When they attended Pioneer School at Haysbridge assembly hall in the late '90s, that seem to be their ticket to London, having met friends from Reading, Reigate and the surrounding areas.

Can'tLeave,
Our field service groups were not well supported. We had about 2 regular pioneers at any one time. Our hall had a lot of youth but they were not generally interested in field service. We had two young brothers who were pioneering and a sister from London moved to our hall several years ago and sort of encouraged them to go up there. They moved shortly afterwards. It seemed to be the thing to do.
Did you congregation have good attendance for the field service arrangements?

If you lived in the UK, perhaps in the South of England, was it a fad for some of the youth to move to London where they thought the ministry was more exciting? If so, do you know how they are doing now? Have they left or are they still in?
Ten years can change a lot of people.
Truthseeker
this week, the service meeting will have an oral review of the dvd faith in action which was distributed in the 2010 district assembly worldwide... as many of you probably know, the intent of this dvd is to present a "white-washed" version of the history of the watchtower by omitting all the scandals and cover-ups.... i no longer go to meetings, but i would have loved to raise my hand and answer question #9 which reads: "what did the bible students expect would happen in 1914?".
my response would have been the following:.
even though the geoffrey jackson admits that the bible students expected a "heavenly reward", the dvd avoids mentioning that russell categorically predicted armageddon would come in october of 1914. what's even worse is the fact that the narrator lied on two occasions by saying that the bible students expected or reasoned that jesus would take the throne in 1914. this is completely false.
When you read, see and hear about the Watchtower's deliberate falsification of their history, you cannot help
but be reminded of the malevolent evil - an intelligent evil that is fully aware of its own lust for power and the
lengths it will go to to fool the rank and file within this sick organization.
i felt with newer members coming on and other jw fence sitters lurking it might be a good thing to explain what many of us have had to go through in regards to being shunned, cut off, ostracized from our jw families in an unjust way .
whether we are dfed or inactive - many of us have shared this same fate and ill treatment.
for many of us- it makes us stronger, more firmly entrenched that the decision we made to exit the jehovah's witness organization was the correct decision as no organization that claims to be " christian " would ever commit such horrid atrocities or justify it !
Flipper,
It's terrible that your own daughters have shunned you for so long even though you are not df'd.
I hope they come to their senses and realize what a great dad you are.
so was your congo affluent & connected enough to have a "bethel speaker"?.
at least one congo in our area had one.
om.
Our congregation is close to NY Bethel, we had three Bethel couples. The brothers were elders in Bethel and the congregation.
i just came back from shopping, was about to pull up in the driveway and noticed an elder from my old hall and his young child working the territory.. i waited till they left and parked.
i noticed i was the only one who got a memorial invite, none of my neighbors got one.
so they weren't working the territory but stopped by to give me an invite.
Hi, we were supposed to move to another hall and do the slow fade. I made the mistake of not asking for my cards to be moved to the new congregation; I thought this was automatic, but it's the publisher that has to request this.
After a few weeks the elders got suspicious that our cards were still in our old hall so they made inquiries and found out we stopped going. We still live in the territory.

I used to be on good terms with this elder but he has not phoned, emailed or visited since we became inactive.
I've been out for four years, was just starting to forget and every now and then I get a reminder of my old life.
I can't stand any of them.
