maybe they're just going to say "we're too old to do this anymore, let's just quit"

Brilliant video! I almost spat out my lunch on the screen when I saw the governing body saying, "we don't need no education"

Why is this saying not included in JW wedding services?
by truthseeker inso simple, yet it could have prevented so many broken marriages if someone had just said something.... .
"therefore, if any man can show any just cause why they may not lawfully be joined together let him speak now or else hereafter forever hold his peace".

Cult Life - Disposable Relationships
by cog_survivor ini've been reading a lot of the posts and agonizing with/for folks who are trying to fade or come out of the wtbs.
there seems to be this recurring theme of family still in, trying to keep from losing them.. this seems almost universal no matter the group.
there is no middle ground whatsoever.

I know exactly how this feels and it takes an unimaginable toll on me, pretending to be in for my grandmothers who are in their 80s.
It hurts like hell to lie to them, but it's either than or lose them.

No more 3-day DCs starting in 2013?
by respectful_observer inapologies if there is another recent thread on this, but i have heard from 4 different people in 3 different geographic areas (including someone who does advance work for the dcs), that beginning in 2013 the three day dc program will be replaced by a second two-day circuit assembly.
some people were passing the info along like a secret, others seemed to think that everyone already knew.. if everyone in j-dub land is already talking about this, how is it not all over this forum??.
anyway, can anyone confirm or deny?.

Truly Jehovah's chariot is running on 2 wheels.
The Society never does anything that will benefit the "friends", they are reactionary, so you can bet that they can no longer afford the expense of the yearly conventions and/or the friends are not obeying the slave's direction to go all three days and stay in the recommended hotels.

Tenth anniversary since the death of Bethany Hughes
by truthseeker init's been almost ten years since bethany hughes died - ten long years - and her father has fought tooth and nail to bring justice for his daughter.. it would be nice if we could have some sort of memorial for her, perhaps an online book of remembrance..

Is it okay for a JW to handle blood in a medical place of work?
by trailerfitter inhi everyone, i am curious to the stance and opinions of those who are in the know.
my jw partner (we are seperated) applied for and got a job in a hospital working as a phlebotomist,.. odd i thought at first.
as i am aware they collect blood samples and deliver blood to wards for a sister (uk senior nurse term) for administration to patients.

I know a brother who worked as a nurse and refused to administer any blood transfusion. He asked to be transferred to another department. One can't help but think that if you train as a nurse, you will encouter some "conscience matters" along the way.

Thought Reform and the Psychology of the 'Safeguard Your Heart!' 2012 Convention
by breakfast of champions into make attendance at my second district convention "mentally out" both a little more bearable and meaningful, i decided to take some notes of key points as if i were an outsider studying the thought reform methods of jehovah's witnesses.
at first, i was only going to share these notes with my therapist, but inspired by the "parsing the watchtower double-speak" thread, i figured i would share my amateur analysis with everyone.
here are some of the highlights:.

Wow, so we mustn't doubt that Jesus is ruling over his Kingdom - then why is it we are not feeling the effects of his rule?
