  Infinity and god - why wait to create the universe?

  here's the problem with infinity ... we can't comprehend it.. it's bad enough when it's space, but when it's time as well and then we throw in some all powerful creature supposedly existing forever ... well, it just doesn't make sense and raises questions.. such as why wait?

  why didn't god create the universe the day before he did?

  or the day before that?

  Christ (The Word) was created into Eternity therefore he is also Eternal but His Father has always been Eternal.

  Eternity by definition is indefinite and unending. It has no beginning and no end.

  Psalms 90:2 reveals God has existed forever.

  Psalms 93:2 reveals God is from time indefinite. Job 36:26 says God is beyond our comprehension. His eternal existence cannot be measured by our inferior minds. Our limited thinking and reasoning process cannot comprehend eternity.

  We are instilled with a beginning for our start in creation. We cannot fathom anything in existence that did not have a beginning.

  When did the "Beginning" come into existence? John: 8-58, Jesus revealed that he (Jesus the Word) existed even before Abraham came into existence. Abraham was born well before Jesus made his human appearance on this planet. Jesus was imparting a revelation, in that he had existed with his Father at an earlier time in eternity.

  How do we know that Jesus existed during eternity with his Father? John 17:5 answers that question. He has glory along side
  his Father prior to the creation of the world. So, was that the "Beginning?" It was a beginning, but not our beginning. It was still etrnity
  at that time.

  Revelation 1:1 and Revelation 3:14 reveals that Jesus was the beginning of the first creation by his Father.

  Colossians 1:15 reveals Jesus was made in the image of his Father.

  We also know that he existed with his Father before coming to Earth because of what is revealed at John 6:62.

  We can't comprehend infinity because there is no end to it, no number that one can say, "this is infinity"

  My own opinion on why God didn't create the universe the day before he did is a matter of being aware of oneself. There may have been a long period of time when God had no awareness of his existence. He/She just existed without consciousness. And after that, maybe something sparked - God became aware of itself.

  Thought is creative energy. Words are thoughts expressed. And action is words in motion.

  Why should the Creator have to make everything in a day? There was a process. If we are to understand the limited creation account in Genesis, it would seem that God made the universe ("the heavens and the Earth") from the beginning.

  Before that "beginning"or the start of the visible material universe, God created his Son, Michael/Jesus.

  Proverbs 8:22 ""The LORD formed me from the beginning, before he created anything else."

  So before the universe existed, and time as we know it, there may have been another dimension or sphere of existence.

  This is in harmony with Jehovah's word, that the "light will get brighter"

  British zone visit from David Splane - a report from the special meeting in Glasgow

  well i went to a "special meeting" in the armadillo today where a 2 & 1/2 hour programme was relayed from london at 1pm.

  apparently the letters of invitation only went out a month or so ago and not all congregations were invited.

  there were 2,900 of us from around scotland.

  I'll add my 2 cents here.

  I have seen one - what I would call a materialized demon - the shape of a human but completely black and featureless. This was at night, the hall light was on and I was not asleep. I was only a teen when this happened and it freaked me out. It glided out the room and became a shadow on the wall.

  I have also seen and experienced other supernatural phenomena. It is real. There is something out there.

  Call it what you will.

  The problem with "proof" is that the person and those accompanying him/her are the only witnesses to such things. They generally cannot prove their experience to others nor can they replicate it. The burden of proof is very high and that is why it is very difficult to convince an atheist that there is a spirit world.

  I personally do believe in the spirit world - the inhabitants have feelings much like we do.

  • How s hould Christians view fortune cookies?

  Fortune cookies are often served as a dessert in Chinese restaurants in the United States and some other countries, but are absent in China. Various immigrant groups in California claim to have popularized them in the early 20th century, basing their recipe on a traditional Japanese cracker. They have been summarized as being "introduced by the Japanese, popularized by the Chinese, but ultimately ... consumed by Americans."

  A fortune cookie is a crisp cookie usually made from flour, sugar, vanilla, and sesame seed oil with a "fortune" wrapped inside. A "fortune" is a piece of paper with words of wisdom or a vague prophecy. The message may include a Chinese phrase with translation or a list of lucky numbers used by some as lottery numbers.

  Many persons view these cookies and the message inside them as harmless fun but for true Christians, there are hidden spiritual dangers. Much of what the world views as entertainment is condemned by Jehovah God and this would include the eating of fortune cookies and reading the "fortunes" contained within them. This is tantamount to spiritism, a practice that Jehovah condemns.

  If a group of Christians were to patron a Chinese restaurant, consider how the actions of just one person who discusses the message found in a fortune cookie could caffect the whole group. How much better it is to heed the following advice: "therefore if food makes my brother stumble, I will never again eat flesh at all, that I may not make my brother stumble" (1 Corinthians 8:13).

  Some brothers and sisters have been known to openly discuss the meaning of their "fortunes". Some have even been known to buy lottery tickets using the numbers provided in these cookies. Such action constitues blatant disregard against Jehovah's commandments and the direction he provides through the "faithful and discreet slave class" (Matthew 24:44,45). If a brother or sister were to pay attention to the words contained inside a fortune cookie, this could lead to an unhealty occupation with the occult. If we were to ignore the Scriptural counsel provided by the "faithful and discreet slave class", we could develop traits that could result in willful sin against the spirit, the loss of Jehovah’s favor, and eventual destruction ( Matthew 12:31, 32 ).

  The Devil's goal is to turn everyone away from Jehovah and he does this by making this system of things look as enticing as possible. Let us continue to resist the spirit of the world and pay "more than the usual attention" to the things that Jehovah's organization warns us against (Hebrews 2:1).

  they just posted up the new watchtower...with the confusing new information.. time for me to go dive into this "new light" and try to see what sense it makes.

  of course cedars already nicely did a run down for us.. .
