2014 Release: God's Kingdom Rules. - The Generation Game continues
by truthseeker ini really didn't want to add yet another change to my generation chart i produced a few years ago, but on reading this chapter in the new book on overlapping generations, it ocurred to me that they really are trying to pull the wool over our eyes.. .
how can the governing body really believe this?
how can they expect any intelligent person to just swallow this without complaint?.

How can the Governing Body really believe this? How can they expect any intelligent person to just swallow this without complaint?
And yet, 7.5 million JWs will just eat this up as yet more proof that the "light gets brighter"
It's got to the point where I feel the Governing Body are laughing at us. They must know the end game is near, yet they pull the strings of the faithful and keep them in expectation.
I'm beginning to wonder now, after reviewing decades of doctrinal changes, that there isn't some unknown malevolent force at work that is deliberately manipulating hearts and minds with this garbage.

2014 Release: God's Kingdom Rules. 6,000+ years to set up a Kingdom that still isn't here? Really?
by truthseeker ini was having a quick look through the new release and couldn't help thinking there is something really wrong here.. humans can set up a "kingdom" in a relatively short time.
americans select their president every four years.
the english monarchy has been in place for over a thousand years, yet the watchtower says jehovah has been working on setting up his kingdom for 6,000 plus years and it still isn't here.. .

Does anyone see that there is something seriously wrong with this picture?
Why does it take Jesus so long to set up a Kingdom?

Atlanta Int Convention 2014:The Big Party. Does this look like WT believes Armageddon is coming "soon"?
by AndDontCallMeShirley inhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=potrr2qxhue.
.. if armageddon is "imminent", why is wt focused on sight-seeing, entertainment, travel, etc.
instead of preaching and saving people??.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I did not hear Jesus mentioned even once!
it really is a cult modeled on Old Testament Israel.

"Probably You Might be Saved" - Somewhere in Zephaniah As I Recall
by Perry inthe watchtower (and old-timers in the org) love to quote old testament passages that were directed toward israel.
however, the new testament is "a better covenant based upon better promises".. in the following verses, salvation is not described as a possibility, but as a certainty, as a present possession for the original christians:.
justification is a present possession (rom.

Whatever works for you Perry. If it makes you happy and gives you a sense of purpose more power to you.
i believe along similar lines but am weary of the whole thing personally. I must have heard a dozen variations of salvation and judgement.

Do you think the age has passed when there can be no new religions?
by truthseeker ini think we are already living in the age where there can be no new religions.
we have access to information like never before and anyone claiming revelations of something new and starting a whole new religion can easily be discredited.. christianity and islam may continue to subdivide but i think we've pretty much seen the end of anything new in terms of a new belief system.. .
what are your thoughts on this?.

prettyA pretty much all religions started out as legends. How would anyone be able to create mythology in today's information centric world?

The resolution was actually passed!
by stillin inwho would have thought that enough people would raise their hands when the resolution was put before the congregation tonight?
based on the pledges that the publishers put on those little pieces of paper, the congregation is promising the wts that they will send $1,000/month to support the society's building funds.. there is a traditional monthly shortfall of about $100 with the basic monthly bills usually around $1,000.
i didn't raise my hand.

We might wonder at their lack of reasoning ability but the JWs are already trained to be compliant. These are the ones who can't stay at a hotel not on the list for the convention and have to stay indoors for lunch during the intermission.
is it any wonder they meekly comply when the elders suggest giving away the "Kingdom Hall silver"?

I know of a pioneer that had trouble making her car payments due to cancer and nobe being able to work. All she needed was a couple of car payments and the loan would be paid off. The elders didnt help her.

I was thinking of a new religion on the scale of Islam or Christianity.
