Despite the "Keep On The Watch" brochure and hardline policies, and District Convention beatings, the publishers in the United States do not seem to be conscious of their spiritual food coming from the bounteous table of Jehovah, as provided by the faithful and discreet slave class.

I have been studying with the Jehovah's witnesses for a little more than 3 months now. I have learned that the JW believe that they are the prophet of Christ. As a true prophet shouldn't it mean that what they predict will come true? I have been researching the JW and I have come across this: http://www.carm.org/jw/false_prophecies.htm are these really prophecies that the JW predicted? Because if the JW really did falsely predict, then wouldn't that make the JW organization a False Prophet and not the true church of god? Note: I am not trying to bash the JW. I am just seeking the truth and trying to find the right religion for me.... |

A few of the pro-JW boards went apostate, some of the founding members became inactive.
The kids of witness parents today are the "lost" generation - lost before it's even realized. A quick Google on Jehovah's Witnesses and all the Society's skeletons come tumbling out the virutal proverbial closet.
I think there are 100,000s of doubting witnesses - probably not a few would like to leave but are tied to the cult by their family.

i don't know if this is a global policy, but the co would usually meet with the body of elders on tuesday and discuss the congregation and the brother's report cards.. if you were an elder and experienced this, what kind of questions did the co ask?
did he start the "recommendation" process then and there after reviewing the publishers report cards?

Last year when I went to the District convention, I wondered about aimlessly - well, I was looking for a friend, but I thought to myself, "How many people here really believe? How many here are just here because of family?"
I looked at some of the faces I passed - a mixture of happiness, boredom and fatigue.
There's really no way to know, no handshake, no nod.

-Once you really don't believe anymore but you continue to associate for whatever reason you run the risk of not realizing how weak spiritually you really look. The society knows the signs to look for and the elders are well versed in this. Has your commenting declined in amount, perhaps quality?; has your field service time dropped?; do you get to the meetings as early as you used to or stay as late as you once did?; do you miss meetings more frequently than before? especially bookstudy?; do you maintain the same amount of social acitivities with those in the hall who are/were your close friends?; there are more but you get the point.As the one living the double life we don't always realize how we appear to others. That is dangerous and can really trip up a fader. They label you as weak; then you start getting sheperding calls; if you still don't respond and your body of elders is zealous you will get more and more attention. They want to bring you back, but barring that they will punish you.
How true. It's already happening with me. Low service hours, not commenting much at meetings. Friends have commented to me that "I miss a lot of meetings." I still maintain the same amount of social activities, but I found that the friends were not as open to me as they used to be. They probably wonder what's going on with me.

Logansrun, maybe class is not such a good word. But it's the only one that comes to mind.
It does seem to be a phenomenon, and I think what Jaffa Cake said about "a growing minority" is spot on.
You don't have to necessarily know someone in person to be a member of this "class."
The sub-group of JW's I am describing are basically those that are "trapped" in the organization for the forseeable future. This could be because of family and friends.
Members of this group go through the motions of following Bethel's dictates, but still come to boards like these and discuss issues.

LogansRun, you asked the question "how do I know"? There are many members on here that are active, including myself, who still go to the meetings and go out in service.
A lot of members on E-Watchman's Paradise Forum, are, for the most part active witnesses.
Yet, most of those members never see each other in person. Which is why I used the term hidden for two reasons.
1) These members HIDE who they are and their true feelings and intentions from friends and family.
2) These members are HIDDEN from other members, because most members are spread out globally among the witnesses.
I do not care to speculate on numbers, it's not necessary.
The psycho-digital divide is what separates true believers from those who know what's going on in the Society.
