I have heard of special get-togethers arranged for the pioneers, elders and other wannabes around these parts. I cannot say I blame them for wanting private parties where they exclude the amharets.
BTW Outlaw, that's hilarious. Thanks!
my mom (who is now a regular pioneer) has been laid up after having major surgery, and i assert my "biblical" rights as a daughter to do what i can to take care of her, so i have been trying to go to her house on my day off to vaccum and run errands for her since she is not supposed to drive.. she called me last saturday to tell me that i couldn't come by because she was driving to her pioneer appreciation day get-together, wtf .
i'm just curious if this only happens in my area (michigan, us)????.
chg. .

why, yes i am according to the jws.
this is an topic that has always irked me with the jws.
anyone who had a good paying job and nice things was materialistic.
Yep, I've given cold hard cash to pioneers in the days prior to a DC and then they acted like I owed them that generosity by snubbing me at the very next meeting.

One is accused of being materialistic if he earns enough money (thanks to vocational training) to afford decent clothes, non-government housing and refuses to bail out friends in the Hall who choose to work menial jobs (pet shop workers, cashiers, laborers, you know the type) so that they can pioneer.
another thread made me remember hearing rumors of books of witchcraft and such found in if not the main library a restricted library at bethel, for research purposes.
i wonder if anyone here had seen those first hand and if so, what exactly were the names of the books?
.
I heard a rumor that when a writing staff researcher goes in there to consult one of those "weird" tomes, several brothers wait outside all the while praying for him/her. If true, this is surely a cult warning alarm moment.
when i was a kid in the early 90's there always seemed to be a mention of how demons posessing people or how if you saw a demon or something supernatural occuring mearly calling jehovah's name would rid you of the situation.
rarely now a days do you hear anything of the sort.
that got me to thinking, what are some other topics the society has backed off of?
They have backed off the UN being the scarlet-colored wild
beast of Revelation, disgusting thing causing desolation mentioned in Daniel. I suppose you can't do that when you have been an UN NGO.
may be 90 000 wt speakers mounted the kh, ca, dc stages this weekend, all believing in the "talking snake--" and many will firmly plant their foot in the mouth, without realizing it.. here is our gem:.
talk on true friends: illustration on friends "not- to- have" :.
2 friends go hunting.
That's the result when you have under-educated people who try to use things they have no knowledge of in their illustrations. Commercial jets fly above the weather? Duh, the R&F don't know that!
who were your past circuit overseers?
i'm sure a lot of us actually know mutual people, as the co's relocate all over the country.. here's a few from the southeast us: (let me know if you recognize any names and post yours too please...).
ellwood johnson (new york/philadelphia area for several years also).
Wickers, his wife named Sandie. He's from the NE, she's from So. CA (he meet her on the beach and brought her into the truth). I foolishly feed them a huge lunch and then ignored us at the next meeting.
Azar-fat ass from MI? Had no problem taking breaks to get his "vitamin T" and diet coke. Tacos are readily found at local convenience stores. He told me once to forget what I had witnessed concerning a pervert elder (pedo).
i was pondering this teaching yesterday.
the claim is that jesus and jehovah came and inspected all the religions and in 1919, chose rutherford as the fds.
today, the claim is that the governing body is the fds.
Jesus said you cannot put new wine (FDS=GB) into old wine skins (1919 inspection, domestics, GT).
mine was a gradual going away.
but once it dawned on them, i think people were shocked that i left the religion i espoused from youth.. were people "in the truth" and "in the world" surprised by your departure?.
Outlaw, I enjoy your posts, esp. the gifs. OMG, I has helped me to find to humor in my predicament (JW spouse). How do you find these gems?

i will like to share some facts about the spanish congregations in usa.
Hecce, what congo did you attend? I have to admit that I have experienced nearly all of the things mentioned by dpFreedom and XstuckX in our 98% Hispanic hall (maybe not the dung graffiti, though). One time we purchased cleaning supplies out of our own pockets only to have them stolen soon after-never again I said. Also, at our newly built Assembly Hall the "friends" destroyed several theater-style seats and several areas of carpeting had to be replaced because of juice/grease stains. And these people are going to help cleanse the Earth?
