StarTrekAngel: they say the TMS is a school one never graduates from. I say just drop out from the whole thing when you feel the timing is right.

Name "UNWRITTEN" Rules That JWs Are Supposed To Follow
by minimus inas with the scribes and pharisees, there are a number of unwritten rules that witnesses are supposed to follow.
here's a couple : "worldly" kids in society depictions are shown quite often wearing their baseball caps backwards.
jehovah's witness youths would not want to imitate that "look".

@thedepressedsoul: "Lord of the Rings" is ok because it is just a fantasy story, no scary spiritism. "Harry Potter" is unacceptable for mature Christians because it has sorcery and demonic elements ( Searcher characters). End of story. -

Elderly sister disgusted with obscene Bethel 'Happy Song'
by Esse quam videri init is reported that one elderly sister in british columbia expressed complete disgust at what she considered an obscene act in the bethel 'happy song'.
now everything is, of course, subject to perspective.
i would imagine her perspective is just as valuable as anyone elses.

Perhaps it was the obscene lack of dance skills demonstrated by the young Bethelites in this video. I mean, come on you should have better moves than that at 19! -

Is it Wrong to Doubt or Even Disagree With the GB? The Watchtower Reasoning....
by freemindfade inthis would be a good one for jw apologist who scream and panic with anyone who feels the moral direction of the wt publishing company has gone astray.
a comment at the bible highlights last night blew my mind, here is the article that was referenced.
btw this account always bothered me, remember when it was in a drama?

Yea freemindfade, that convention drama had me wondering how that theme got through committee. To many similarities between the "old prophet" in Bethel to the modern version of the old prophet(s) in Bethel. -

Abusing the power of tears. Yet another sign of desperation
by StarTrekAngel inso i was seating at the meeting this past sunday.
the latest wt article to be studied speaks of "using our imagination" to think about the blessings of the kingdom.
the whole study was centered around how we can, and should, spent time visualizing ourselves in the new world, working along with our brothers.

People who study for years ??
by Clambake inin my cong ( my wives cong.
) there is a lady who attends every meeting , minus the field service just like a regular dub.
it just seems odd she has not taken the dip yet.

Could it be these people who are forever studying have little social interaction and enjoy having an excuse to get dressed up for and enjoy being the center of people's attention? -

GB Spirit directed writing - October 2015 Awake
by Listener inthe awake oct 2015 is now up on jw org.. one article talks about young adults returning to their parents home and tries to give them some advice.. one of the highlighted comments are these magical words.
<<remember, more important than what you do is becoming proficient at what you do.>>.
i don't see how it's more important to become more proficient in that window washing job than working towards a more interesting and better paying job.

I recall that Martin L. King was credited with saying that if you even if you were a janitor, to be the best janitor you could. But he never discouraged people from reaching for their dreams.

WT Society Makes Light of Child Abuse Crimes by Portraying them as Cartoons
by flipper ini commented on this on another thread- but i believe this has enough importance to create a thread about this situation in and of itself.
at the current district convention as you know the wt society released a " sophie & caleb " video allegedly warning parents about the dangers of child abuse.
they don't really use the words " child abuse " in the video - but just say if " someone tries to touch you in a manner you aren't comfortable with " and portray it as a cartoon !
-

The Mom in the cartoon does instruct Caleb to tell "even if it's an adult you know and trust". However, she does not make the logical connection that "brothers and sisters" in the hall are the only adults that kids should trust! -

Anthony Morris III: "...we cannot control everything that an individual might say..."
by cappytan ini noticed that anthony morris iii just said on the broadcast: "while we cannot control everything that an individual might say, it is clear that over the decades protecting children from abuse is a top priority for this organization.".
that, in my opinion, is a direct response to the richard ashe "spiritual protection not physical protection" deposition.. here's a video putting the two statements side by side.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgevpuyn7gy.

I thought that the titles in that Awake were made up, but Tony read them on the broadcast. "Baby Pros and Kiddie Porn", really? That sounds obscene and sick.
