Say goodbye...Armaggedon 15/ 05/ 03
by refiners fire inive been looking at an interesting site by a woman who receives transmissions from aliens called the zeta.
apparently the world as we know it will end may 15th when planet nibiru / marduk passes so close to our earth that an apocalypse will occur.
it last passed by when the noachian flood occurred.

Michael Moore's career is not over, those who hate or dont like his views have always felt that way and are never going to buy his books or see his movies but the there are other more open minded people who at least consider what he has to say instead of listening to the "company line" of the gov't and the media like brainwashed jw's.

A Muslium American kills fellow soldier
by JT init will be interesting to see what happens to muslium soldiers who are serving in the us miltary.
it could be a serious backlash for these folks.
when folks belief systems are tested it is very hard to tell how it will play out.

"Simply stated: That is what happens when you let a fox guard the hen house"
.I'm sorry but I find that comment ignorant and very offensive.

Would it be better to have a halt to war topics ?
by Simon inunfortunately, it seems that people are unable or unwilling to debate or discuss the war and stay civil.
people are accused of all sorts of extremes such as "advocating child torture and rape" if you are against the war or "being a mass murderer and war criminal" if you support it.. some people seem to want to be able to post anything they want and it be accepted verbatim while other people are denied an opinion that doesn't agree with theirs.. i for one am sick of it and i suspect that other people are too.. this is supposed to be a site for jw related issues.
not exclusively but primarily.

I think there should definitely be a limit on the number of threads. what about 3: pro-war, pro-peace and on the fence.

I am cautious about giving obviuos clues to my identity because my family would definitely stop talking to me and even though on some level I shouldn't care because it would be their mistake I know how brainwashed they are so I can't really hold them accountable.
but it sucks because i would love to try to find out if anyone here is from my old congregation etc.

Will this war in Iraq, damage friendships here?
by WildTurkey in.
what do you think.
will this war in iraq, damage friendships here?

I am not really "friends" with anyone on here but in my own personal life I have lots of friends who disagree with my views. It seems some people on these boards from both sides of the debate take things far too personally and i kind of agree with other posters that maybe this just isnt the forum for the war debate because the ones who mostly contribute are pretty much entrenched in their point of view and are not going to be swayed by someone's post, if anything it will just harden their will. If there are people who are on the fence there are many sites on the web that are pro peace and just go to any US media outlet for the pro war side

Elders' kids - special treatment?
by starfish422 init seems to be the opinion of some on this board that elders' kids received special treatment, weren't punished for their wrongdoings, etc.. as the daughter of the po in our small congregation, let me tell you that it was much harder for me than for the kids of those who weren't elders.
our family was expected to be the "model family for displaly purposes" and we were held up to very high standards so that we didn't "stumble" anyone.
at times i wished my dad wasn't an elder so that i could have a bit more freedom.

My father was/is from the no special treatment school of thought. I was always under close scrutiny, it sucked. I never really did anything "bad" until I just up and told my dad it wasnt for me. He had the elders come talk to me, they read me some scriptures blah blah blah. I was never df'd or da'd though i just faded away.

Did I turn my back on Jehovah's True Organization?
by sandy ini was wondering as i have been lately; did i turn my back on god and am i wrong for turning my back on the organization?.
are there any of you out there that feel like you have a real personal relationship with god with or without religion in your life?
do you still call god jehovah?
-
Azalo
as many have said i think youre feelings are normal. i have a different perspective from you because i consider myself somewhere between agnostic and atheist so i do not fear god or fear displeasing him/her and i have no desire to "find the truth" . well that wasn't much help was it, but good luck i think you will be happier in the end.

Who is the current "King of the South"?
by Azalo inever since the ussr fell it seems the jw's have been trying to find anyone to proclaim the king of the south (sorry if thats not how u say it but i'm just directly translating "rey del sur" ) just wondering if anyone knows who is the latest suspect, n korea maybe?
by the way, another example of how elitist the wts is, albeit subtle, why isnt the us the king of the south?
after all geographically speaking the former ussr is further north than the us.
