Who is You Know? I've read some of his/her weird apocalyptic posts and was just wondering as some seem to know who he/she is.

as per topic, I think that if you are lurking you have already made the most important step which is to open your mind.
if you are no longer associating with jws either from fading or daing or being df'd, do you miss your jw friends?
have you found over time that the void was filled and you no longer needed them?
did you in fact find out your life was happier without them?
The ones I miss are ex-JW too but I cant get a hold of them because I've moved so much since then that I dont really have a way to get in touch with them. The couple that are still in will still talk to me but we dont live in the same city so we dont hang out or anything and I think if I did live in the same city we probably still wouldnt hang out cause I wouldnt want them to be put in a difficult spot. but i know they're there if I need them.

i was talking to my twin sister tonight on how i didn't want to go to the upcoming convention this weekend because we had already been to it 2 months ago... .
i have to prepare some audition matrial for a arts event and my parents are not sympathtic to the fact i got allot to do, and we've already been.
TELL YOUR FAMILY! Listen, your family doesn't know you feel this way, they are being so overprotective to try to avoid exactly this. If you sit them down and explain to them that you do not want to be a JW, do not plan on ever being baptized and nothing they say or do will make you change your mind, what can they really say or do? You have to be calm about it. I would reccommend you tell your whole family at the same time. Make sure you plan it out so you can articulate it intelligently and dont come off like an illogical rebellious teen and no matter how heated they get just stay calm. Things can only get better once it is out there, at least you will not have the burden of your "horrible" secret. The elders or cong need not get involved since you are not baptized. Your parents might want you to talk with the elders, if they do fine, go along with it and just express the same reasons to the elders as you did to your parents.
How do you know that your sisters do not feel the same way as you? Maybe your sister seemed so intutive because she recognizes the same thing in you that she herself feels. Maybe your courage will give them the strength to do what they have wanted to do but were too afraid, just like you. Maybe they will all shun, of course that is possible. Let me tell you, I come from a very strict family myself and I thought that they would shun me and I am baptized but its been over 8 years and I have a great relationship with everyone in my family but 1 sister who still talks to me but kinda shuns me but not really. (she's weird)
well i have redone the maps.
it was helpful to have them separated before while i was trying to make them all.
but now i think it is easier to have them separated.. ballistic has done an amazing job with the map of the uk you can find it at.

well, i went through the study with the elder.
all i have to say is wow.
there was a lot of points that i did believe, but then we went into the discussion of the fds.
back in the day when I decided to give the study with the elder thing a go I too brought up many points that I found puzzling about the org, of course these were just my own observations and I didnt have a source like this one to back me up but he complained to my sister that he thought i had just agreed to the study to be argumentative with him and if i wasn't going to take it seriously then he didnt want to continue, so i stopped because i did like the guy and i moved away so that was the end of my study. i wish i had more concrete questions to ask him back then, oh well.

I thought this was another JW urban legend thread, which by the way I am not knocking, I started one myself when I first started posting here unaware that there were already many threads about JW urban legends, have you heard the one about the smurf that walked out of the asembly hall when they said Jehovah. LMAO!
one of the biggest regrets a person might have is that they let their children become involved in the whole jw "thing".
you know---everything from the elders always cornering them to "investigate" something or even having the parents "turn in" their own kids......is there anything that you especially regret?
not having a regular childhood, but now that I have kids of my own I kind of feel like I am having a second chance. I got out at 17 so I the harm was not irreperable. but I feel really sorry for my father who is still hardcore JW and has always been very giving and loving even to the point of being foolish, ie. buying houses or cars from "brothers" to help them out and he always came out on the short end and on the flipside never using the "brothers" as customers for his businesses because that would be taking advantage of his position, so he would give them stuff for free. well now he is quite close to retirement and doesnt have a cent in the bank.

on reflection of a few of the recent threads about the past year, and the ensuing one i had pause to think about some of my priorities in life.
y'know family is always family, and that has to be the closest bond - right up there with life-partner (but you get to choose the latter .
below (and currently my avatar) is a pic of my eldest nephew, taken about a year ago.. frankly i don't know what i'd do if anything happened to him.
nice pic. do you get to see them much? are their parents jw? I have a nice whom I dont see ver often, her parents kinda shun me. but i have two of my own so they keep me pretty busy.

I just went back and read through your posts and it is pretty weird how similar your life is right now to mine when I was 17. I wasn't nearly as courageous as you though. You know, even though it may seem harsh now I think getting Df'd might be the best thing that could have happened to you, and from the story that you told about your Mom and the older friend of yours who had been DF'd I'm pretty sure she will not shun you. I hope you do go to college, you will make a lot of friends and you will see things so differently and you will eventually feel sorry for all the people that are stuck in the JW's. Dont let them ruin your life because that is exactly what they want, they want to say, "hey, remember that girl Shytears, what a shame she (killed herself, or she is a drug addict prostitute, she just sits around the house all day, she still lives with her parents and she is 30 now, etc), if only she hadnt turned her back on Jehovah, how sad" Please dont give them that satisfaction. Good luck! BTW I am in a neighboring state from you.
