Scooby, what exactly did Diana do for you besides wear some expensive clothes, breed some more windsors, and talk about land mines now and then? Did she sexually excite you? Are you a monarchist?

Princess Diana.....remember??!!
by ScoobySnax influffy i know.
but tonight i was thinking it must be almost 6 years since diana was killed in that car crash in paris, and i was thinking about the outpouring of grief that happened not just here, but around the world.
i never was one of the ones that went to london on the day of her funeral as at the time i was flying back from a holiday in turkey, but i remember it appearing in newspapers out there and people of different nationalities coming up to me and expressing their condolences, particulary this french bloke hugging me whilst i was sitting around the pool a couple of days after the crash!.

Lyineyes: Death be not proud, right. Anyway she's dead and moved on to hopefully better things. Bourgeois women of the world lost their baby doll. Elton John got a chance to redo that damned song.

Just a rich broad that gave some noblesse oblige when she had time and got killed when her limo went to fast in a tunnel. I don't see the great tradegy. Everyone dies. At least she got the good champagne before her teeth hit the dashboard.

Then & Now
by RAYZORBLADE ini think this post may be an absolute: no brainer

How many of you still believe in the bible?
I don't "believe" in books per se. If they help you become a better person, then there is some worth in them. But a book is just a tool, like a hammer or a computer. The bible is scripture to me, along with a great deal of other literature, but it is not infallable.
How many of you have moved away from it?
I suppose so, yes. One day I will read it again, I am sure. How many of you, cannot debate scripture/doctrine? (post-JW)
There is no point in debating doctrine. Two people dissareeing on an esoteric matter, trying to convince each other that their point of view is the right one, is one of the silliest, most worthless of endeavours. How many of you, still actively hold the bible as divinely inspired?
I take the monist viewpoint. It is inspired, yes, but to a degree so is The Amazing Spiderman. Some books are more inspired then others. Your milage may vary .

Your favorite Watchtower oddities
by logansrun inyou know, there are some things phrased that are just so, so....watchtoweresque.
what are some things you see that remind you of some wt foibles?
one thing that always cracks me up is when an article or book (or post) uses too many exclamation points.

Saddam was a madman and an inept military commander. If he'd had any sense at all he would have destroyed the bridges leading to Baghdad and made a deal with the Kurds to keep the US off his back. He was foolish enough to use untrained fedayeen, so he was stupid enough to use WMDs.
But it really doesn't matter. The US has just finished its first pre-emptive war. There will be more. And no doubt Bush will make certain WMD's are found, even if they have to be imported in.

I'm not confused, thichi. Where are the WMD's? There are WMD's aren't there? That is what we conquered the place for, isn't it?
When an American marine placed a U.S. flag over the statue's face, a commentator on Al Jazeera, the most widely watched Arab satellite TV station, remarked: "Everything that happens from now on will have an American smell."
The soldier that did this was very foollish and should be reprimanded. It was more then a PR flaw, it was disrespectful to the sovreignty of the Iraqi people, whom we are supposedly trying to help.

He definately should be court-marshalled. This is apalling. What would they say if a chaplan-imam withheld the MRE's unless soldeirs converted to islam?
