  it's already pretty much established that the jw claim of being unified is hogwash, but this information should be itneresting.

  Book Studies in Your Home

  i'm curious (was reading the other thread about book studies and got to pondering) who had a book study group in your home and what was it like.

  and did you go to any homes where they made you take your shoes and socks off and put on slippers or anything like that?.

  we had one in our home....got counciled about having the demonic disney movies out, but for the most part it was a pretty good experience.

  we only had one a couple of times, fortunately. I didn't like the idea. No option for laying out of the meeting.

  Liberal Equals Ex-JW

  something i've noticed on this board is that there seem to be many more liberal-left types than conservative-right types.

  what do you think of my following theories?

  in the 70s, many converts to jw-dom were influenced by the anti-establishment philosophy and anti-viet nam war.

  I think with the JW's you have this premise, that a better world IS possible, and "you too can have a part".

  Once you leave the JW's, you either decide that a better world is not possible, and the best you can do is maintain status quo, then become a conservative, OR you decide that if you want that better world, you and others are going to have to make it happen, and you become a liberal.

  A good question. I'm not religion-shopping, if that is what you are thinking. I am actually trying to do a bit of trending. I suspect that the WTBS goes through cyclical purges every so often, though not necessarilly at a regular rate that can be pinned down with any accuracy. I have a hypothesis, and it is only that, that the pressure cooker that occasionally causes this, is about to reach a boiling point and cause another schism. However the JW/Russelism splinter groups have never been very large or successful.

  you may have noticed that the numbering of the presidents on this site differs slightly from other sources.

  the reason is because of the two non-consecutive terms that grover cleveland served in the late 19th century.

  Lap Dancing

  a friend of mine gave me a free ticket to a lap dance club tonight, and ive just got back from there.

  its the first time i've ever been to one so i was intrigued as to what it was all about.

  after going there i dont know what to make of it.

  what are your feelings about this sort of thing?

  . Pretty much every strip club in the town I live in has VIP rooms. Some of the clubs offer lap dances, in one or two of the clubs, lap dance is just a keyword for something extra. It has a function. The girls get paid well, and are much safer in the club then they would be hooking on the street. Also there is less chance they will be harassed by pimps or law enforcement. What I don't like is a club where one of these dancers hangs on to you like a leech, even if you aren't into her, scaring off someone you might be more intereted, and basically ruining the show's view. It's pretty much gotten me disinterested in going anymore.
