Which Doctrine Convinced You That This Wasn't Right
by ignorance is strength inwhat wt doctrine convinced or made you doubt your faith in the wtbts?
for me it was the 144,000 and the nature of christ's resurrection.
i seriously could not believe that there were two classes of christians when it was not stated implicitly in the bible, but was expected to be believed in as absolute truth.

If the Watchtower kept you out of college, here is a quick way back in:
by gitasatsangha ini know a lot of folks are like me and probably had to get their education mostly from experience due to the watchtower's stand on education.
i wanted to share some things i found which were helpful to me, and might also be to others thinking of going back.
this all refers to distance education, as i travel a great deal and don't have time to go to a regular college.. excelsior college (run by the new york board of regents), has a special system set up where you can "credit bank" previous experience, credits taken from other colleges, corporate training, etc towards a degree.

Excelsior College (run by the New York Board of Regents), has a special system set up where you can "Credit bank" previous experience, credits taken from other colleges, corporate training, etc towards a degree. Its technically possible to test out of an entire degree at Excelsior. www.excelsior.edu
Western Governor's University (www.wgu.edu) is somewhat similar to excelsior, in that they use a lot of work experience, certifications, and testing-out, as well as taking classes locally.
Ashworth College (www.ashworthcollege.com) offers two-year and masters degrees. They are cheap, cheap as many local community collges, however they are not liberal about tranferring credit. They offer their own payment plans on tuition, which works out to something like $35/month over 25 weeks for each semester. Works out to about $58/credit hour if you have no transferred class credit.
http://BAIN4WEEKS.COM is one person's guide on how to get a degree from either Excelsior College, Charter Oak State, or Thomas Edison) via testing out. He says it can be done in four weeks. I don't necessarily doubt it, but I wasn't going to try!
Anyway it's a hassle starting college when you are already past the traditional college years, and I know a lot of xjws are thinking about it, or already doing it, so I thought I would pass this information along. You probably already know most of what's in the degree, learning the hard way, so this is a way to complete the process and get soem recognition. The colleges I listed are not "diploma mills", (places that basially sell illegal degrees), they are accredited institutions.
If you have any information like this, pass it on.

Occasionally they play in my head, if that's what you mean. I always liked the music of "To God We Are Dedicated". I liked singing it in the conventions, but I didn't like most of the songs.

Neocon's and Suvsoccermoms got what they wanted. Now they they they have called the tune, we all have to pay the piper. It's not something to be happy about. Either outcome in November is going to be a backlash, not a well thought out vote, and I feel very sad for our countrymen in Iraq, for the Iraqis themselves, and for my country which has been goaded into empire building by a small minority who hijacked the Republican Party.
I can be pretty ascerbic about this, and because of that, I won't say anything further on the matter now (not that anyone gives a damn), and instead quote the very learned statesman Pat Buchanan:
In the run-up to the invasion, when critics were exposing their plotting for war long before 9/11, the neocons did not bother to deny it. They reveled in it. They boasted about who they were, where they came from, what they believed, how they were different, and how they had become the new elite. With Rumsfeld, Cheney and Bush marching to their war drums, one of them bellowed, ?We are all neoconservatives now!?
But it is always unwise of courtiers to boast of their influence with the prince. And now the neocons have outed themselves. We all know who they are. We all have the coordinates. We all have them bracketed.
With the heady days of the fall of Baghdad behind us and our country ensnared in a Lebanon of our own, neocons seem fearful that it is they who will be made to take the fall if it all turns out badly in Iraq, as McNamara and his Whiz Kids had to take the fall for Vietnam.
And this one they?ve got right

Scoob,
I came here the first time because it was comforting to know I wasn't alone out there. Then I was completely cool with being out and I went away. I came back awhile ago because I liked some of the conversations on here. Mostly I just read 'em, and sometimes I respond or make a post or two. I try to have a sense of humour about the whole JW thing, so that people on either side of the fence can take things a bit less seriously. Hell it's only, life, right? This JWD forum has its favorites and other folks who fall into specific roles, and over time that is a bit tedious. Sort of like Kingdom Hall 2.0 but old habits die hard. It gets to be cacaphony of everyone wanting to be noticed, appreciated, loved, even hated. I do it, you do it, most everyone else does it. I figure most of us had to be mentally ill to be JWs in the first place, and leaving is only part of the cure.
Hopefully though the main point will be to help people newly out face their new lvies, cause it definately works on that level, Like MorpheusX, I won't hang around forever I am sure, but I still like to see what people are up too, much like you do scoob. I never talked to you much. I wonder if you read this, but don't care much if you do. Letter to myself, mostly. Looks good in Arial 10.
MorpheusX,
Have a good life man.

Oldie but goodie : Star Trek Jokes
by Nadsam in46 things that never happen in star trek the enterprise runs into a mysterious energy field of a type that it has encountered several times before.
the enterprise goes to check up on a remote outpost of scientists, who are all perfectly all right.
the enterprise comes across a garden-of-eden-like planet called paradise, where everyone is happy all the time.

Why Crosses Are Okay For Easter And Other Times
by allpoweredup in.
paul said "boast" of the emptied "stauros" on which christ died as a symbol of resurrection over death, so it is unbiblical to call a cross a repugnant murder weapon (gal 6:14, 1 cor 1:17-18) those who teach christ died on a stake or pole instead of a cross ignore that human remains with the ancient item of death and also inscriptions show archaeologists that the stauros was a cross not stake.
dr frederick zugibe's research shows suffocation would be in minutes if on a stake but in hours if upon an outstretched cross which is just as luke

And what would you think conservative talk radio would be?
Pre-existing programming. It started out on AM, which was and is cheap, and moved on to FM as broadcasters like Limbaugh were able to really pull in the advertising revenues. Conservatives were there first, when it comes to radiopolitik. Air America began with $30,000,000 from its private investors and say they can keep going for 3 years before they need to turn a proffit. We'll see. If Air America (odd they chose the title of CIA's old secret airline) closes after November, then it was election year strategy stuff with Democrat backers.
I started off the year in the "anybody but bush" camp, but this infighting and a choice between two republicrat candidates (oil man and ketchup-king) have driven me back off to the third parties again. I'm joining the libertarian party. Neil Boortz has a good radio show.
Atilla, I agree.. Fresh Air and Car Talk are great.
