If you believe you are soley an individual, as Solomon seems to have, then life doesn't have much point. If you realize you are connected to every other living thing that has every been or ever will be, then this "you-ness" can be a wonderful facet on a permeating reality which is difficult even to imagine. We don't much think anymore about what will affect those around us, or those who are to come, and in the witnesses it was much moreso as we thought the universe hinged on a battle coming just around the corner that would leave all things new. The real trick is to be happy. If you alive, the thing is to find and understand your sufferings, so they can be eradicated. One thing solomon did get right is that there is nothing new under the sun. What he didn't understand is that there is nothing old under the sun either, there's just the present moment to be mindfull in.

what does it matter how we live?
by candidlynuts ini was reading ecclesiastes 1 -3 today(excerpt is from chapter 2)..... and i'm not a bible scholar and dont claim any wisdom... but these scriptures seem to just say you live and you die regardless of who or what you do in life.
its all vanity...... is this the true wisdom of the bible?
that we exsist not by or for any reason.. we just exsist then we die..... end of story?

Charles Taze Russell and his Roman toga
by Kenneson ini remember reading one time in a religious periodical discussing the watchtower society and its founder, charles taze russell, that as he approached his end he requested that his body be placed in a roman toga.
i found that odd and wondered where they had gotten that tidbit.
this weekend i found the answer in the memorial issue dedicated to charles taze russell in the dec. 1, 1916 watch tower.

Russell was desperately trying to convince his followers he really was nuts, but to no avail. His final book, a 700 page tome called "I Am Really Freakin Nuts, Folks, Stop This Religion Before Someone Gets Hurt!" was never published posthumously.

my son is a real issac asimov fan.
he said asimov would have hated the movie, but that he really enjoyed it.. come to think of it, i'd be hard pressed to name a will smith movie i don't like.

It was a good movie. Saw it friday. Then I got to thinking about a movie it superfically reminded me of, so I rented Bladerunner. Damn. No comparison. There's a great movie that really went deeply into stuff that I Robot only touched on, due to having to spend so much time on the action scenes.

Charles T Russell -a freemason and the connection to the illuminati...

all the early watchtower and books he authored have freemason symbology and art throughout them.
not a big deal i thought, until i read more about freemasons and the so-called "illuminati", a group of 13 families that supposedly control the world.. supposedly these 13 families, such as the duponts, mcdonalds, kennedys, .

Today was a wonderful day ...NOT !
by Nadsam insince then i have : publicly (to all who know/knew me) told them that i am not a jw anymore.told all my relatives (jw's)told all old jw buddies written to the service desk and told them why i don't want a subscription to their trash maglet the local elders know i never want a call or visit again..and supplied them with a fine amount of apostate literature.told the local elders to put a warning on the territory card of my street saying i don't want any visits ,literature etcsmoke in publicgamble in publicbecome very patriotic and vote...in public.
however to this day i am confused as to why....... they keep stuffing my mailbox with watchtowers and awakes.. today i recieved no less than 10 magazines forced and torn through the narrow slot of my mailbox.. i ask ...are they dumb and dumber thinking that 1 in a million chances of me returning....is still a chance ?.
tomorrow i will return the favour.

Hide out and try to see who is stuffing these letters in your box. Confront them and tell them that it makes you angry that they continue to send you things you dont want to read. Tell them they are throwing pearls before swine, if you think it will make them stop. But if they don't, just start stuffing their own box with UN letters and so foth. In the end, they will stop.
