i got the idea for this thread from one jessika posted and which contained a response from dede.. which form of final resting place do you prefer and why?
personally, i want to be cremated and have my ashes scattered at a particular place on the beach on deserted st. catherine's island, a barrier island on the georgia coast.
my children could get there by boat (the only way) and visit my spirit there - even though i know my spirit won't be there, i believe that somehow i will know they're there and what they're saying.. being buried in a box six feet under to lie in the same position througout all eternity doesn't appeal to me in the least.
to me it makes no difference at all. the deciding factor would be what would be of most comfort to my loved ones left behind.
my father's family were all cremated, my mother's were all buried. though i visit my maternal grandparent's graves from time to time it is no more or less comforting than those who were cremated.
as one who has participated in a cadaver lab, i have often thought of donating my body to science or a med school where it might really do someone some good.

this seems like a repeat of one of rayzorblades questions the other day, the "then and now" thread.
i don't "still" study the bible because i had shelved it for many many years. now, however, i am back into the bible redescovering it without looking through the lens of the wts. so much to learn anew.
also.....the fact that some miracles can be explained by natural causes does not necessarily negate the possibility that God used those natural phenomena to accomplish his purposes within His set time frame.

i went back to the office and told them i couldn't find her.
she had been buried in 1996!!!!!!!!

that was such a lovely, beautiful tribute to oretha. i am so glad you had someone like her in your life...she surely was manifesting the love of a true Christian.
it is touching that you still remember her with such fondness; it reminds me that "....love bears all things, hopes all things, endures all things....love never fails." im sure she will be in your heart always.

at what age would a person have to be to join the witnesses and not suffer too much?.
if they are children, it robs their youth.. if they join in the teens, they won't get a decent education.. if they join at 20 years old, they will have to marry a witness.. if they join at 30, i guess that would be less destructive because they already are married, have children, have a house, an education and a job.. at what age did you join, and how did it affect you?

i have to say that at one time i wouldn't even consider reading material at a discussion group like this one.
but in the last two years, discussion groups like this one have been indispensable to my dealing with a very personal crisis of faith, and i want to thank the brave and loving persons who sponsor sites like this, and the brave and loving persons who participate in them.
like many here, i was raised as one of jehovah's witnesses and never questioned the validity of the wbts view.

your story was interesting. i was raised jw, pioneered many years, married bethelite, father was elder. i left 27 years ago to go into spiritual limbo. in last yr or 2 have begun studying again, found bible-loving church (they actually read bible without additional dogmatic propaganda). i liked your comment that christian greek scriptures is primarily "a jesus book". what i am discovering is that the whole bible (hebrew, aramaic and greek) is a jesus book!
