It still seems a bit early to either criticize or defend the findings. Already things like conspiracy theory are being tossed about before the evidence has been examined. And I read this whole thread and I did not find a single personal attack on tec or "tammy" by anybody. But I did see a lot of condescending and passive agressive comments FROM tec to another poster's beliefs or even another group of posters. To say that Tammy already has her mind made up about the conclusion of an investigation before she even looks at the svidence seems to be an established fact after this thread as anybody can plainly see. But that is not a personal attack on her charater. That is just affirming the label that she herself probably owns with pride - and that is the label of apologist. She has reasons for believing in Jesus that dont depend on any external evidence just like me. But in my caseiI already reject the bible in its entirety and I openly tell peolle that my experience should not serve as evidence for anybody else but me. And whether jesus was a real humanor not doesnt matter to me and whether iI call jesus jesus god dog or puss and boots doesnt mattsr a flip.
But anyway, I am open to give this.evidence a.good go around.before I call it truth or shenanigans or something in between. And I have a feeling that no matter how solid the textual evidence is Tammy will never let it sway her beliefs one bit.sorru girl. But you know its true. What gets me is how a perskn can gather enough critical thinking to leave the watchtower just to become an apllogist for another brand name. To me that is not a revolution so much as it is simlle apostacy. A revolutionary change would involve a complete change in thinking process, a total upside down of what it is that convinces a persln of reality and fantasy. And most importantly a rational and balanced and humble and modest admission that I do not know ANYTHING for 100% for sure. Even whether god exists, unicorns exist, this sentence exists and smjrfs really walk out of kingdom halls. I like to say that this sane admission is an asterisk or footnote or parenthetical statement after everything I say think write or do. It keeps me from being dogmatic, it keeps me from being attached to my beliefs and it keeps me both open minded and skeptical about everything.

I wish I was. I am in my heart but I am a large middle aged single man. When I turned 30 people just stopped touching me. Going for years sometimes without being touched is incredibly depressing to me. Women in particular just cringe at my approach. Sigh.

Why the need for a new font?
by Splash inso with everything else being dissected, i want to know why it's important to have a font that can be copyrighted?.
the font used is very similar to a number of others, like tahoma, ms sans serif, and arial etc, so what benefit is there to employing (in the loose sense of the word) a team in japan to create a brand new western set of glyphs?.
will this help with their prosecution of those who copy/paste nnwt verses?.

They might be able to take stuff off the internet on the sole basis that it is using their font or typeface and they wont need to argue that u se of its lit. May be a form of copying as opposed to commentary. It may serve to greatly limit commentary. Also if you change the font of it they can neutralize your critique by saying "well your quote is not an accurate quote cuz you are using the wrong font."

to update you a little on what's been going on, here it is.
my 22 year old son who still lives at hom has stopped studying with the jw's and has not been to meetings for a few weeks.

no, i would sit there in the audience, and think... that person has balls to do that.. when i went to grade school, i tried to keep as low of a profile as possible.
it was bad enough that i had to start the day by not saying the pledge of allegience like all the other school kids.

Me too! Always completely embarrassed by it from as far back as i can remember! Kindergarten even. Hearing my mom explain how i was enrolled late cuz we are in the last days. Not saluting the flag. Even a child can tell when things dont match up.

interesting verdict, that despite the judge "...noting he was highly intelligent, a "mature minor" and devoted to his faith, the judge also found the boy had been "cocooned in that faith" for his entire life.".
the young man is 18 in 5 months and will be able to refuse treatment after that.

Id really like to keep track of this kid. It will be interesting what kind of strategy the court and doctors use once he actually turns 18. I mean, im pretty sure cancer treatment takes much longer that justa few months. And if he stops treatment on his 18th birthday then the gains of just a few months will quickly be lost and he will die. It seems to me that his only hope is that he starts to get cold feet before he stops treatment and better still, some serious doubts about the correctness of his faith. With all eyes on him that will be hard to do. Maybe he'll figure that to live at this point being saved by blood transfusions that he, lets say decided to keep taking, would result in shunning and loss of his entire social life. And everyone he loves; so it would be better to die honorably.

Musings about different types of atheist!
by Seraphim23 ina thought that occurs to me is that if one has the belief that all that is real is only explicable in terms of particles and forces, and that nothing exists that is not one of these, then good and bad doesnt exist either, the same would be true for any concept for that matter.
or perhaps it is only true when reduced to the level of matter and forces, but without the moral force, meaning and purpose that such a materialist only description would entail.
after all, if death is forever, which is materialist view, then what does it matter if a seventy or seven year old enters the grave?

And sure enough the very first post just recycled memorized lines from theist one liners etc. No way im going to read any more. But ill just address one of the most common lies told about atheists. Atheists just believe in chemicals and cells and matter and nothing else and thats aall there is ...
Now I am not an atheist anymore but I believe like one still. Just because we cant see or measure something does not mean we have no imagination as to what else mkght be out there including what you might call god or spirits. We just dont have evidence of those things yet. So they remain as musings unti we have personal evidence of them. And this is how everyone should be. Its not that we say no evidence no existence. Rather ee say no evidence - we dont know then. We dont believe there is no god. We just dont belive there is one based on zero registered readings on any kind of sense. We as a race litrrally have no knowledge of god. Jjust stories and imagination. Ill sdd that I ude entheogens that give me experiences of a spiritual sort but that is no reason for anyone else to believe. Ayauasca. Daime. D m t. L s d. And markjuana and svia divinorum have given me wonderful experiences and I recommend them to all god. Searchers.
Another thing is that since things dont have intrinsic meankng (things read nouns) no life does not have any meaning but what yiu give it. Therefore if you say life is meaningless just because there is no god and no afterlife well. Thats on jyou buddy. Meaning comes from people not things. Meaning is ascribed to and apied to it isnt sitting I side of things like words and pictures and snow globes saying *hey my name is meaning. Look at me!"
