For the person who asked about Born Again Christians before.
by neverthere ini have a friend who is born again and she gave me a pamphlet about it when i mentioned the thread on this site about it.
if you were to ask your friends hot to get to heaven, you would probably receive as many answers as the number of friends you have.
someone would probably suggest that you should keep the golden rule; someone else might say that you need to live up to the ten commandments; others might advise that you should pray, or give to the chursh and the poor, or that you should "just do the best you can.".

Personality quirks that make you mad!
by Nosferatu ini'm not keeping this to jws only, but i remember one that used to make me want to punch him just because of the way he acted.. he'd come up to me, and he'd have one hand put halfway in his suit jacket, and he'd make a *click* sound with his tongue inbetween sentences.
that really drove me up the wall!.
anyone else know a person who would just drive you nuts because of the way he/she acted?

My hubby has one personality quirk that drives me MAD!!! He is ALWAYS late, I mean, if he hadn't known that I would REFUSE to marry him if he were late for the ceremony he would have even been late for our marriage (smart guy got there 2 hours EARLY!).
When we were dating if he said he was picking me up at 7 I never started getting ready until 8 cause he wouldn't show up until 9!
LOL, still the same, but I love him to peices!!!

No, hubby doesn't sing (thank heavens) only in the car or in my ear when dancing, he grew up speaking portuguese before english and he breathes in the wrong spot when he sings so the songs break in funny places, (Hmmmm perhaps I should mention this in the Obssessive Compulsive thread too, that it bugs me I mean).
We saw him in concert at Casino Rama last year, it was AMAZING, he did his regular set and when most people were leaving cause they thought it was over he did like they do on tv. when they sit, chat, sing etc. totally awesome!!!

I have a friend who is born again and she gave me a pamphlet about it when I mentioned the thread on this site about it.
It reads:
If you were to ask your friends hot to get to heaven, you would probably receive as many answers as the number of friends you have. Someone would probably suggest that you should keep the Golden Rule; someone else might say that you need to live up to the Ten Commandments; others might advise that you should pray, or give to the chursh and the poor, or that you should "just do the best you can."
But when you are dealing with something as important as eternal life and Heaven, you need more than jus tthe opinions of friends. You need the Truth!(makes you want to cringe!?)
When we look into the bible we read "Jesus said, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God..... Ye must be born again" (John 3:3, 7).
"Born again?" That may sound strange to you. What does it mean? To explain this, let's look at what the bible has to say.
God's Word, in the first place, is very realistic. It teaches that no one can gain entrance into Heaven by good works or even religous practices. The bible reveals our true condition; "There are none righteous, no, not one.....For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:10, 23). Our personal experience also teaches us that we all have broken God's laws and have not even "done the best we can do."
The biblical diagnosis for our condition is clear. We, by nature, are described as being "dead in trespasses and sins;" "alienated from the life of God;" as "having not life" (Ephesians 2:1, 4:18)Just as the body without physical life is declared physically dead, so any person seperated from the life of God is described in the bible as spiritually dead.
Separated from God, dead in our trespasses and sins, we cannot hope to enter Heaven. We need new lives, cleansed from sin and its penalty. Wen need to be restored to fellowship with God. We must be born into a new life--we must be BORN AGAIN.
Jesus Christ came to bring us this new life. He said "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly" (John 10:10). Receiving the life that Jesus can give is what being born again is all about.
When we think about God's love for us, it is really more than we can comprehend. God sent His Son Jesus Christ from the glories of Heaven to enter the human race and pay the penalty for our sins. This si sthe extent of God's love for us! "God commendeth His love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8).
On the cross of Calvary Jesus willingly bore all our sins and suffered the full force of God's righteous judgement. By His death Jesus provided for our salvation. By His resurrection from the dead, Jesus broke the power of death.
Today the risen Lord Jesus offers new life to all who will receive Him as Saviour. He promises, "He that hearth My word adn believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlastin glife, and shall not come into condemnation, but is passed from death unto life" (John 5:24)
If you will respond to the Son of God by receiving him as your Saviour, you can have everlasting life right now. On the basis of God's Word you can have assurance that Jesus Christ has totally suffered the penalty of sin fo ryou. An you can be born again into the family of God, knowing that one day you will live forever with your Lord in Heaven.
"And this is the record, that God has given to us eteran life, and this life is in His Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life" (1John 5:11, 12).
Ok there you go, who ever asked, Errors excepted, cause I cant read through this whole thing again. It was hard enough to type it all out the first time without rolling my eyes all the time.

In the family I knew, most of their sons had some sort of problem with alcohol. One of their daughters liked to drink too. Makes you wonder sometimes, but then again, if you look at alot of organized religions, many people have drinking problems.

my jw husband came home last week and told me he is moving out.
it seems he has been talking to the elders, and they feel his spirituality is being threatened (even though i have not insisted he stop going to meetings, i won't allow any jw material in my home because of my children from a previous marriage - i don't want them exposed to it.

There was a group of JW ladies handing out the publications on the street the other day. Although I have never been a JW I have had contact through my first husband's family. What I want to know is this: Are they supposed to hand these publications to children? I had my kids with me and they tried to hand their "junk" to my oldest. I yelled at the lady, saying that she should keep her cult to herself and her family and that they should not be allowed to give that crap to anyone (OK, my language was MUCH stronger than that). Are they supposed to do this? Any suggestions about what I can throw at them besides the child abuse and the blood transfusion stuff that someone who was never in the ORG would be able to easily back up? I am not christian so my knowledge of the bible is limited. Thanks all Diana
