Just to clarify one thing, since I'm not sure if it was said explicitly... here in the US, "college" is synonymous with "university". When Americans speak about "not going to college", they mean not attending university.

Clarification needed about US education system
by ballistic inclarification needed about us education system and watchtower policy :-.
we used to be slightly puzzled by some articles printed in the publications such as "young people ask - should i go to school?".
because in england and most of the uk, school is most definately compolsory and enforcable by law up to age 16.. further education beyond age 16 is never refered to as "school" except jokingly.

No offense to Richie, who is a great guy, but I don't think the WTS is fazed by 17-year-olds selling t-shirts.
Ex-Witnesses have been picketing conventions, putting up stickers in the bathrooms, handing out leaflets, etc. for the last thirty years. As fun as the checks stunt was, I'm sure they were promptly thrown in the wastebasket by the money-counters; just as the stickers were promptly removed by the cleaning crews, etc.
I do believe that exes--as a group--are one of the biggest threats the WTS currently faces. But I don't believe that headquarters is really worried about any particular individual 'apostate', unless they're able to divulge secrets, or are in a position to cause real legal trouble.

FWIW, I've known other sane anointed (my father being one of them). People of all faiths can have transcendent religious experiences; if a JW has one of those, he/she will often interpret it as an 'anointing'. But it doesn't make him/her mentally ill; at least not any worse than the standard JW fanaticism.
