Why are they still going door to door?

hey all, long time no see!.

a friend posted the anthony morris videos on facebook today, and the ensuing conversation got me wondering: why are the jws still going door-to-door in the developed world?.

it's clearly useless as an evangelizing tactic; the wt have recognized that for 20 years, with their "go where the people are" spiel, but they also insist that it's still necessary.. .

(warning: self-indulgent rambling ahead... i decided to write this for my own sake this afternoon, and i figured i might as well share it.).

i was a loner in college.

partly this was due to my religioni couldnt develop close friendships with classmates, since non-jehovahs witnesses were considered bad associationand partly to my lack of social skills, which made me a bit of a misfit even with my co-religionists.

Witnesses win European Court lawsuit against Russian officials

it sounds like an open and shut case.

some local officials, acting with no legal authority, broke up a witness meeting and then cancelled the lease for their meeting place.

the russian judicial system refused to do anything to correct the situation, so the witnesses appealed to the european court of human rights.

Elderly British lady gets in trouble with police over JWs sign

a woman has been told by police that she must remove a sign on her garden gate that reads "our dogs are fed on jehovah's witnesses" because it is "distressing, offensive and inappropriate".

jean grove, a pensioner, has displayed the sign for 32 years.

her late husband, gordon, put it up after members of the church banged on their door on christmas day 1974..
