Getting caught

has anyone ever gotten caught posting in here?.

I have never been a JW, but when I first started posting here I was paranoid because if I got found out the elders might tip off my JW friend as to what I was up to! So I can imagine it must be much worse for you!!

Basic tips: don't give your real location or age. Be careful about any identifying information. Folks who have been here for a few years, have been to apostafests, or who have decided to give their real information are folks you can feel a bit more comfortable with. Personally, I have met 1 person in real life, and talked to 4-5 posters on the phone (which is not much compared to others!!).

Anyway... I hear ya about being paranoid!

careful in everything we do because he can turn something that might seem to be ok for us into something that can be a cause for stumbling to
ourselves or others, like in this case.

Tell him hat is exactly why you are being careful. You are looking to be sure that the charge was accurate, and the defense was accurate. You might break it to him that your own checking about the library card seems to indicate that it was NOT required. Maybe ask your dad to call the UN and see if that was really the case as the WTS said. If the WTS is telling untruths, you have every right to be cautious.

I suppose you can mention you would be able to feel better if there was a coming-clean about it, and an apology issued. That might help you feel less stumbled, hey?

Good news: No longer an elder; Bad news: Disappointed wife

my wife & i have a good relationship except when it comes to things dealing with the wts.

over the past few years we've both made concessions, and i even made some headway in getting her to think about some things.

but from time-to-time we would end up arguing about something wts-related and there would be days of tension between us.. well, a few weeks ago we were having a casual conversation about wildlife in our area, she mentioned something about jehovah ruining those who ruin the earth.

Hey doin,

If you still have a lot of ice between you, then try this: when you have some time to talk together at length take a deep breath and apologize for pushing too hard on her in your discussions. She might take great advantage of this and jump all over you and let you have it, but bite your tongue!! Let her vent. Nod silently--not because of agreement, but because you are listening/understanding. It might leave you looking like the loser of the 'debate' you had, but grit your teeth and let it look so. It can build up your credibility as a caring person, and help her relax a bit... and feel more open to listening to you in the future (if you are careful to be extra considerate in the meantime). Your character will attract her to your words.

Single parent, kindergarten woes. Help!

i have a problem.. we just moved to plano, texas, where we know no one.

my son just started kindergarten.

now, plano isd is one of those school districts that gets a large amount of funding through high test scores and through high property values.

My daughter is a visual learner, so reading was easier for her to pick up. She practically taught herself off of the pbskids.org website. Between the Lions has lots of great reading games, I recall, but there were many others there. If your son likes computer games, then this will be fun homework and not too hard for you either.

Edited to add: I would take the advice but I DON'T feel COMPELLED to jump if a school district's goals are beyond what normal kids can do. It is a public school, isn't it? You have every right to NOT tutor if you think it is too much studying going on for your 5-year old. Education is great... but sounds like you've got a school district that is going overboard.

I'll bet lots of JWs thought they were getting the better 'deal' than those who would end up in heaven. It took a while for the WTS to give the 'fine print' on this matter.
