i got a phone call from a person that i gave my phone # to.
and this person said that gays are not welcome here and this is not what this board was really about.
i told them that this is only one part of the crap that the wts did to people and that we are people too.
That truly surprises me that someone spoke for the whole board and told you to leave. How did this person think s/he had the authority to speak for the whole board?
Everyone is welcome here. The only exceptions I can think of are those who break the forum rules.

....But, what would that entail? What you are asking for is pretty tricky. Can you think of something that could not be discredited by anyone, or ever get shadows of doubt cast upon it? I can't. One man's proof will not convince all others. What convinces others does not necessarily convince me, and vice versa. I think that perhaps just the bare attitude of wanting truth (even if turns out to be something no one believes) is spiritually helpful in the whole matter.

can't believe what's going on over at the hospital where he and his family are.
his mother was acting out of her head and they found out she had pneumonia at the hospital yesterday and today my son, her husband was taken to the intensive care because of not breathing.
they both were there to be with their son who had his biopsy.

There are times when we feel like we are just toothpaste being squeezed thru a tiny tube, and the pressure is so intense. As many remind us on the board, breathe in, breathe out, repeat... and whatever else, don't stress about tomorrow on top of everything you deal with right now.

i was feeling a bit guilty about celebrating as this is my 1st year out and i know the history of all the holidays and birthdays are pagan or bloody or idolatrous.. .
but i was thinking that it's not what someone made them in the past but what they are right now.. to us, at this moment.
am i going to sit down on thanksgiving.. and say, "i hate those indians, think i'll go kill some"..????
I think the only bloody history of Thanksgiving had to do with their shooting some turkeys.

i will be interviewing for a position at the university of southern california.
the pay is not going to be that good to begin with, but i have mitigating factors, my son who is a junior this year, can get in and i won't have to pay a dime towards his tuition.
his dream is to go to usc and to play for the usc marching band.

ok....maybe this is stupid, but i was thinking of all of us setting up a day to go to the meeting and all that are here and hiding, or just lurk here could participate and we could set up an underground support system.
it would just entail a simple gesture at the meeting....like holding a tissue, or some toilet paper.
(like you had a runny nose) if there are elder lurkers and they tried to "catch" someone doing this...what could they say.."why are you holding a tissue????????
Megsmamma You're not the first to think of wanting to create signals. But until the thing gets close enough to foolproof, most faders don't want to compromise their situation.
I think a set of exchanges could work. Something innocuous such as about weather, but with a word or phrase (not necessarily a loaded JWD term) that is a little unusual, such as "preternatural". Then, another question like, "Do you get your weather info off the weatherunderground online?" And a particular response like, "Yes, it's very good for almanac information, too."
From there, I suppose the next thing to do is come to the board and post a thread: Weatherunderground in CA (or whatever region one is at). See who responds to the thread. Decide if you want to reveal yourself by pm first.
You could still deny everything, I think, if you found a lurking elder instead of a fader/exJW. You could say you don't know whom he possibly contacted online on a board... but you do remember a simple conversation about weather the other day. That is all.

when i was four, i believed that my life could be painfully and tortuously taken from me, in a ball of flame, crashing down from the heavens, just while i sitting down to a bowl of oatmeal in the morning.. when i was nine, i believed that my life, as i then knew it, would be drastically altered, that i would be tortured for being a jw, and after suffering for who knows how long, i would die (because i still hadn't lived up to jehovah's expectations).. when i was 13, i wanted to be a nuclear physicist-because it sounded cool, but in the meantime i believed that i would die in armageddon because i wanted to go to college, get really educated, and have a great, "worldly" life.. when i was 15, i felt guilty that i hoped armageddon would never come, because i so desperately wanted to go to college.. when i was 17, i was offered an honors early admissions in a prestigious program in a highly regarded engineering program.
my mother flat out said, "no!".
when i was 18, i scuttled semi-secretly to the local university, part-time, trying to hide my daily activities without actually lying to anyone.. when i was 19 i quit pretending and disassociated.
CONGRATULATIONS!!! Wow, such an incredible achievement!
