being a pioneer/servant for years, i thought i was very responsible.

Roller Dave, that was a very original way to state your point of view and I think it hits the mark. Celebrations and traditions are like songs (often include songs). Love and faith are being expressed in the heart, not the particular forms. And God knows what's in the heart.

i don't have much time to post as i'm headed back to the hospital, but my father collapsed this morning and had to be rushed to the hospital.
in a nutshell: he needs a blood transfusion as his hemoglobin is dropping (bleeding internally), but thanks to this fucking cult, that's not an option...........he'll accept the fractions but those bastards from the blood liaison committee have already shown up to ensure he doesn't cave............... for those of you who still believe, i'm asking you to say a prayer for my dad........and if anyone from crooklyn is reading this: you better hope my father doesn't die due to your fucked up rules, .

Last Wed. I discovered that the pharmacy had misread my son's prescription, and given only half strength tablets of his daily meds. I was a bit unhappy!!... but I accepted the apology without giving them hell. ...Probably because I screwed up royally 10 days ago by not informing someone of something I should have. (NO, it wasn't life threatening, but still it is embarrassing to have to admit choking when I should have been forthright.)
So certainly we all make mistakes, even when we are doing our very best. And I think about "doing unto others" (forgive) what I hope to receive myself. You are a hard working, decent person, and nobody thinks less of you for all of this.

i heard it on the radio last night.
i was going to post it on the other 'should marijuana/cannabis be legalised' thread - but since this case involved alcohol as well, you can't be sure which 'drug' if either was a contributor to this sicko's actions.. i'm not going to post the full story here as some may find the details distressing.
it basically involved a guy who had been smoking weed and drinking who denied a dying woman any dignity in her final hours.
How could anyone devalue someone like that, for 15 minutes potential fame on youtube? I wonder how youtube reacts to stories like this.
I would hope that part of his sentence involves getting to know the biography of the lady who died, her kids, her legacy... so that he understands that he did a disgusting and inexcusable thing to a significant human being.

I don't think that medical research will try to keep real cures from reaching the market. For one thing, the competitiveness among scientists for making major discoveries is intense. Fame and fortune, new money for new research to get new success will follow. Also, many researchers are motivated because they have lost someone close to that particular disease.

another thread here reminded me of something i used to wonder about while i was still an active jw, and haven't really thought about until now that i was reminded of it again.. - this is probably a very banal question, but (the premise comes first):.

Actually, Jesus said that the resurrected would become LIKE the angels, who do not marry--he was answering a question about resurrection and marriage, not trying to describe purposes.
I look around and see that there are many types of animals in this world, and many varieties inside each specy. The Bible actually lists several types of angels, and I imagine the list is not exhaustive.
I think the creation of man is unique. Our capacity to 'hold' the Divine is even greater than the angels, I think, because of the gift of Christ, who is considered worthy of all that God is worthy of. This is difficult to grasp because it is staggering. Likewise staggering, angels are called servants; the redeemed (an innumerable crowd) are called heirs with Christ.
