went to big "family apostafest" last night....what a blast!
by oompa inearly on in my adventures here at jwd i went to a posted apostafest in my area.
only 7 or 8 were there, but it was nice to meet others and hears some stories first hand.
last night though i was privileged to attend a family bash at a nice big house with at least 20 awesome people there, and all but one were former dubs (one husband just married in, but was never a dub).

OMG - I did it - I told my Mom and Dad how I feel...
by Princess Daisy Boo inmy mom and dad came round today and we ended up at the local mall with my hubby and kids having lunch.
after lunch my hubby went home with the kids and i stayed on with my folks to do some shopping.
as we were driving home, i pointed out my son's new school, and we were discussing the merits of private vs. public schools etc, and mom says "i just hope that by the time the kids get to highschool that the end has come, and you and the family are in the truth".. i mumbled something about having my doubts.

Glad to hear that they are interested in investigating. Let them know that as far as YOU've investigated and tried to get reasonable explanations to explain away the charges, they come up as frauds. So if they can 1) read the accusations and 2) give a good rebuttal to them, you'll be all ears! That's only fair, isn't it?
And if they discover that there is no good rebuttal after all, then there was probably a good reason why the information was made available by apostates. They are doing the deceived a valuable service.

For Christians...Is It Just Me or Am I Losing My Mind
by XJW4EVR ini just ended a three week sabbatical from attending my usual christian fellowship.
going back last night, i was struck by just how superficial and shallow the worship service was.
it was almost as if the worship leader was trying to manufacture joy in the believers.

I once went to a Presbyterian church once where the minister and the pianist seemed to think they were a talk show host and the band leader. On the one hand, it didn't seem right or really genuine. On the other hand, I gotta leave judging their genuineness to God. Hopefully, they were genuine...
Remember that not everyone is on the same place at the same time spiritually. You can't cross the same river twice.
I see going to church as an act of corporal worship. It's not about me getting some kind of entertainment, or a way to get juiced up emotionally or spiritually for another week (happy clappy). If God is worthy of worship, then it's an all-or-nothing affair. I've learned that pursuing happy-clappy is not enough, because we just don't have total control over our emotions. But we do have control over our actions, and deciding whether to worship God. Pursuing that usually has the best kinds of side benefits, which are more genuine all around.

In all my many years of going to mainstream churches, I've NEVER ONCE heard a talk/sermon that brings up masturbation, let alone see it headline a church publication. The WTS is utterly obsessed with sex and trying to control folks. Freud would have a real field day.

Love is more than just a word to say, or a , of course. Whether people choose to LIVE it or not is more revealing than their professed creed.
Hey Chalam, though I understand your sensitivity here, I don't think journeyon was trying to proclaim a strict doctrine so much as illustrate how love is a real and recognizable thing in practice. Like you, I don't believe in the Mormon-like return to the spiritual realm idea, but I don't think he was really preaching that so much as how devastating it will be to realize that one's whole life missed the point of what s/he preached.
