Until about 12000 years before christ radiocarbondating is very accurate as it is calibrated by dendrochronology. Dendrochronology and cores from glaciers and certain lakes show in detail how the atmosphere was tens of thousands of years ago.

Radiocarbon dating totaly inaccurate before 2000 BCE
by opusdei1972 init seems that this portion was published in the watchtower in the year 1977 (as i have in the spanish version):.
the radiocarbon dating method has been widely accepted by many scientists as showing that humans lived back to at least 50,000 b.c.e.
that conflicts with what the bible says.. but physicist r. brown of andrews university claims that this radiocarbon dating method is highly inaccurate.

Paranoia of today's WT study!
by stuckinarut2 inthe wt study for sept 7th just breeds such a spirit of paranoia!.
using old biblical references just so as to prevent anyone from using critical thinking skills and analysing the "truth".. then using incorrect, leading reasoning to paint any who "think outside of the box" of the org as "apostate".... pure manipulation!.

Hey stuckinarut
The wt study of next week is even worse.
One more reason for me not to attend.

I'm meeting with my congregation Elders Today HELP PLEASE
by LennaB inmeeting with my congregation elders today.. going to tell them about the things i discovered about c.t russell.
(astrology, racism, ect.
) i don't know how to present this information or what to say.

Dear Lenna
You will have a wonderful life ahead of you.
Love, compassion and respect for other, caring and helping in smaller and bigger things can bring real meaning to your life.
As to the question about if there is a god. Pray to your creator, even though you don't know who he is. After studying and meditating about old testament accounts of Jehovah ordering genocide and mass killings of children even babies (for example Numb.31) it is clear to me that this is just the tribal god of old Israel and NOT the true creator.
After doing research about the blood doctrine, shunning of df even among family it is clear to me that JWs are NOT the true religion (I doubt that there is a true religion.
I believe in a loving father / creator who wants individual persons to be free and enjoy a life of love, compassion and joy.
There are good times ahead of you. Don't let JWs make you feel guilty and bad. They might be individually loving and kind people but the organisation and its teachings CAN NOT be guided by the true god.
I wish you and your husband all the best from my heart.

Please help....in a dilemma..
by crazyhorse inplease help with this: when i was in college, there was a lot of talk about university and how all who pursue that are wasting their time and all that.
even before going to uni, there was a lot of pressurr on me concerning my decision.
during that time, two elders sat with me for appointment as ms and asked me if i have freedom of speech in the org since i'm going to uni and i said no.

If they ask you again for becoming a ms and you say "yes", they will pressure you to become an elder. Exactly the same happened with me. I didn't want to become ms and elder but I was afraid to say no. For elder I said first no, then they pressured even more and I said yes (you have to know that if you say "no" to the elders it will make them look stupid before the co).
I learned the hard way. JUST SAY NO WHEN THEY ASK YOU. You don't owe them an explanation. Maybe they will wonder if you committed a secret sin that prevents you. Just answer "no" and "don't worry it's not because of a sin. I am fine and if not I will let you know."

My congregation (I attend about 2 times a month) has large congregation parties and picnics about all 3-4 months. So nothing forbidden by the borg.

Breast milk contains white blood cells
by Rufus T. Firefly ini just learned (from a post on a facebook jw recovery forum) that breast milk contains white blood cells [see link below for confirmation].
so, when nursing, an infant ingests its mother's white blood cells for nourishment.
furthermore, i have known jw mothers who would nurse the infant of another mother when that mother was temporarily indisposed.
-
Daniel1555
Yes exactly.
I asked to a prominent HLC elder why white blood cells are forbidden, when there are more white blood cells in mothers milk than in the same amount of blood.
His answer. "I can't answer that."
I wrote the same question among others to the branch office 2 years ago. Still waiting for an answer.

BIG CHANGE IN THE WIND?
by The Searcher infollowing on from this post - http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/282716/1/is-this-the-big-change - my info is that the service meeting items next week are to be reduced by 5 minutes each to allow the cobe to present the secret item to the flock!.
also, no one, not even the cobe knows what the subject matter is yet.. everyone here should be ashamed of themselves for making the glorious ones in brooklyn more secretive than opus dei or the freemasons!!

Another movie (IF I STAY) on immortality of soul!
by Pinku inmaterialists continue to dismiss the notion of immortality of soul, calling it as bull-shit.
however film industry is least bothered about such ridicule as they know that most people are fascinated by the idea that we have a soul that survives the physical death (of the body).
latest in the series is the movie (if i stay, warner bros. pictures, directed by r j cutler, released last friday) that revolves around the heroine having an out of the body experience.

Hi Pinku
Thousands of people of every culture and religion, adult or child have these Near Death experiences. Many don't talk about them. But they have a profound influence on their lives. They can't be explained by scientific means but many studies have been made about them.
Like how could a person be conscious of what is happening around them, seeing or hearing things that happened in other hospital rooms while they are clinically dead and should be conscious of nothing at all?
I believe there is so much rhat we don't know and I take NDEs for real.
