At one of the last book studies I attended, the Elder conducting the study went on and on about how disgusting gay people were and how they deserved to get Aids. I was disgusted by his unloving comments.

What do JWs think of AIDS?
by somebodylovesme inthis might sound like a weird question... i know (obviously) jws despise homosexuality, drug use, blood transfusions, and promiscuity.
but those (as much as they might hate to admit it) are not the only ways people get aids.
i'm far from an expert, but babies can contract it from mothers, a faithful person (married or unmarried) can contract it from a partner who has not been so faithful, a person may not know they have it, and the list goes on.

Militant Apostates
by Rainmakerone ini'm wondering if there are many truly militant apostates out there....... some real god hating watchtower bashing hard guys....i just read the "bill bowen update" thread and feel that all opposition is good opposition, and knowing that the wt society can see any posts we make, also feel its a shame they can see squabbles among their enemies.

I found Danny's website recently through a Christian Ex-JW Site. I have a special fondness for him because he represents the hurt that has affected most of us. Militant? Perhaps.- but that's what makes him unique. He has a strong sense of justtice - I admire that! I seriously doubt he'd ever hurt another living creature.
Like Danny, I also have family "gone missing" in the WTBS and I want them back.

First question: Why are JW's ridiculed so much?
by 2good2bad indo you ever wonder why jw's are the most ridiculed?
they are made fun of more than any other religion.
it makes me think about jesus and how he was persecuted and ridiculed for being righteous.

Why Did You Leave "The Truth"?
by Corvin inlurkers come in and out of this forum.
some lurkers suddenly have bouts of righteous indignation and become trolls that lash out at some of the subject matter posted here by x-jw's.
they accuse many of "leaving jehovah" for fleshly desires.

I was disfellowshipped NOT because of immorality, lying, stealing, etc. I was kicked out because I refused to follow rules that weren't based on God's Word. (The specific complaint at the time was the rights of the sisters to wear Legwarmers in the Field Service on cold days) Sounds funny but a true story!
Since that time, I've made mistakes, fell on my face a few times but I Never felt God's spirit had left me. I am happier now as a Christian than I ever was as a JW. The freedom to ask questions and be heard is wonderful. "I am still making sure of all things and will continue to hold fast to what is fine"

Contraband
by prophecor ini've always enjoyed the subtle, soothing sound of the wind chime, being in the organization however requires one to forsake such items because of their origin.
it has been linked to the ancients as a means of keeping away evil spirits.. upon leaving the organization, one of the first things i picked up upon was a wind chime.
i enjoy listening to its melodious tune when the wind blows in our back yard.

Who do you blame for the time you wasted as a DUB?
by Thunder Rider inthink of all the time and energy you wasted sitting in meetings, going door to door and refraining from making friends and having enjoyable association with non dubs.
think about how much of your finite life is lost to you because you were a witness.
think about how foolish you looked, hanging on to the false teachings and empty hopes for the future.

I've never understood how parents could stand by and allow anyone to harm their children in any way.

Would you wear a crucifx?
by orangefatcat inmy wonderful husband knows that i have been a religious person most of my life and while he despises jehovah's witnesses with a passion, he knows that i still believe in god and christ.
he being a greek orthodox and a wonderful human being he bought me a beautiful crucifix of jesus on a cross.
it is black stone and silver and says on the back of the cross, alpha and omega.

Yes, I wear a little cross 24/7. I finger it throughout the day and think about the sacrifice Christ made for all of us. With this reminder, he's never far from my thoughts.

A Rural Trend?
by Dan-O ini was talking with one of my brothers recently, and he commented on something he's noticed while travelling.
he noticed that a lot of kingdom halls seem to be popping up in rural areas.
i know that a town in the next county built one outside of town a couple of years ago, and the kh in my own town has a 'for sale' sign on the lawn.

I doubt it's because the farmers are becoming JWs.

the memorial
by galaxy7 inwell the memorial was as interesting as everthere were about 50 people in attendance.. i was happy to see about 10 people come in jeans.i thought that was wonderful.
he gave a good talk ,this is one time he had to mention jesus but he did well not overstating the name.. he quoted the american standard version a few times except when he talked about john 3:16 then he used the new world translation.. i liked how they have a curtain up around a pretending window, that initself gave me food for thought.. the local priest has been attending the memorial over the years word has it when he retires he is going to become a jw.
a few people talked to me, all in all i guess it went well.

Let me guess--- 0 partakers . The food and wine had to make it's way thru 359 people to be thrown out . Is that insane or what ?
I don't think they throw it out. I overheard some elders (many years ago) talking about how perfectly acceptable it would be to drink the wine after the Memorial Service. - They may have done just that!
