REPOST: For mothers who have lost a child
by Lady Lee inone who are mother's but never had the chance to hold their child are those who have lost a child.

I have lost my oldest child Thomas to the WTBS. I'm scared because I sometimes forget he even exists.

There is a JW mother here in Columbus who lost two of her four children in an automobile accident this past January.
I wrote her a letter soon after. She askled my daughters to have me call her. But......After much thought and prayer,I decided not to because I didn't want her to get disfellowshipped for associating with me. The loss of Joel and Alicia is already almost too much to bear.
I do wish I were able to comfort her somehow.

Did you ever experience "Joy"?
by Pork Chop inone thing that always struck me was the rather dour nature of the organization.
i know people laugh, and at seem to have a good time, at least occasionally.
however, one thing i just haven't seen is a real outpouring of joy, like david dancing like a crazy man or some of the other occassions in the scriptures when it seems like people were almost overcome with joy.. anyone here ever feel real joy as a witness?

My children were born when I was a witness. Those were joyful experiences but the JWs had nothing to do with it.

Please Help me with Answers to my Questions.....
by nemo insince joining the board and doing research, i have found out so many things about the organization and feel no longer compelled to preach or go to meetings.
my friends are not taking me missing meetings well, things are not going to be fun.
but this is my decision and i plan to fade away, because of this decision it leaves me with so many unanswered questions...... which bible is viewed as the most accurate?.

One trait I've noticed with many JWs is they expect the WTBS to have all the answers for them. You can fall into the same trap if you likewise want someone elso to have the answers. - BEWARE - There's always another Cult ready to suck you.
What helped me for a number of years was to read and re-read the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John in a variety of translations. I've only recently moved on to more difficult areas.
You really do have to make the truth your own. That means doing your own research with an open mind. It's helpful to pray first.

I whisper of think the words to this one several times a day. The words may not be exact to what scripture says in the various translations but the meaning is the same
The Lord is My Shepard, I shall lack nothing
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside still waters - Her restores my soul
He leads me on the path of righeousness for his name's sake
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for you are with me
Your Rod and Your Staff they Comfort Me
You Prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies,
You annoint my head with Oil
My Cup Runneth Over
Surely Goodness and Love Will Follow me all the days of my Life
And I will dwell in the House of the Lord Forever

A witness should NOT ALLOW their cat to eat a bird!
by gumby inwitnesses believe it would be a transgression against jehovah's sanctity of blood to give your pet a blood transfusion....even though it's an animal, blood is to be poured out on the ground and not used in any manner.
one time, a notable brother who left the borg and was visiting with some friends to encourage them out of the cult, saw the wifes cat eating a bird out the window.
he said "maggie!

My big black cat Rollie keeps out neighborhood free of squirrels. I sure hope he's draining the blood first.

have you become a Christian since leaving the JW's.....if so why?
by digderidoo inmany people i have spoke to on this site have found that becoming part of a christian group since leaving the witnesses has been of benefit to them.
i must admit at times i have considered visiting other churches or religions, but have not acted upon it.
but i am curious as to what's out there.. can anyone enlighten me?.

I learned you don't have to go to Church to be a Christian. I do have a home chruch but I find my gathering together with ex-JW Christians to be encouraging.
