one of the things that i have only done once... but i would love to do again and again until i perfect the technique, is called star trails.. my camera is a canon 60d.
there is a way to "hack" the canon dslr's so that they get some amazing functionalities, such as taking a picture just by clapping (really cool for when you want to take a picture and no one is able to push the button) and taking pictures at certain intervals.. you can read more about this "hacking" on .

Anyways... So in May last year I went to the mountains and I took pictures of the stars... every couple of minutes, the camera would take one picture. I just let the camera do its thing and went to sleep in the car. 2 hours later I stopped the camera, and the next day I post-processed them into star trails.
I used this program to "stack" the pictures:
http://www.startrails.de/html/software.html
Here are some of the pictures that the camera took, no editing:
And here is the final result, once the program stacked all the photos and I tweaked the pic a little:
I loved doing this, I loved just watching the stars and this mountain and feeling the peace. At the time I was saddened by the process of learning TTATT, but this helped me find some peace.
h'mmm, it is almost 11:00 am on a wednesday.
i wonder if it is a jw.. to the best of my knowledge the following happened, but i did get a little excited during our intial conversation and what transpired later so i may not be recounting the facts correctly.. i went downstairs with my trusty sharpie in my pocket to answer the door.
at the door there was an older (~75 year-old) man in a suit and appeared to be in good health.
Ouch!! =S
Never had poison ivy... hope you feel better!!

Hi Rob,
Think of how frustrating and even guilt-inducing it must have been for Hassan when he first started his practice. Many mistakes I bet, some costly in human terms... Don't beat yourself too much about it... Mistakes are how we learn. Not many can handle the stress of talking to JW's, it really is frustrating!! But kudos for trying and kudos for analyzing yourself and trying to improve.
Thanks again for all you do for ao many people here in this forum.

as you all may know, it is an ongoing project to translate jwfacts to spanish.
given that there are more than 2 spanish-speaking jw's for every one that speaks english, it can be safely said that spanish is the #1 language in the jw world (even though everything is made originally in english).. the spanish-speaking jw's are harder to convince.
i attribute it almost 100% to socioeconomic factors.

I am almost done with the translation of this one... I am just missing the pictures and finding the quotes... But I have it posted up already (What I have translated so far)
i have used meetup.com and it seems like a really cool site!!
i am liking that i can meet people who have the same interests as me... it can be lonely in the cities and specially after becoming an exjw.. .
i already signed up for spanish, french, salsa dancing, bachata dancing, and photography!!
On Thursday, I went salsa dancing, and one of the persons that I saw/met at the Spanish learning group came and said hi, gave me his card, and it was so nice to meet/see him!
Like Paul noted in his article,
http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/wrong-with-being-jehovahs-witness.php,
"If he were allowed contact with foreigners he would discover that they are creatures similar to himself and that most of what he has been told about them is lies. The sealed world in which he lives would be broken and the fear, hatred and self righteousness on which his morale depends might evaporate."
(1984 George Orwell p.204)
I am meeting lots of lovely people with this site!!
I recommend all lurkers/faders to find friends this way... BEFORE you come out!! That way coming out won't be so scary!!
we should keep watching this list: http://www.grg.org/adams/e.htm.
this list shows the list of verified oldest people alive.
technically, articles in the 1960's and even in the 1980's indicated that "this generation" meant people born before 1900.. 5 more people, and we can officially celebrate another failed wt prophecy.. when i was "in" i thought that the wwi veterans had to die.... they're all dead... all of them... not a single person on earth now can tell you what happened when they served in wwi.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/list_of_last_surviving_world_war_i_veterans_by_country.
Side point: It is almost literally a miracle that these people live another day: statistically they have 99.9999999%+ probability of dying at any one day (The 5 people still alive). BTW the probability is accurate... yes, 7 nines after the 99...
Misao Okawa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misao_Okawa) needs only 24 more days and she will be the second oldest verified Japanese person ever... The 9th oldest verified person ever...
So we'll see in 24 days... I hope she makes it!! =)

I don't wish death on anybody, but when the inevitable happens for these 5 people, then it will be officially no way that the "this generation" teaching is true. (Not that it ever was).
if you could list the major themes of the watchtowerland per decade, what would they be?.
for example, 2010-2014: overlapping generation, gb=fds, jw.org, 100 years.
2000-2009: harder stance on higher ed.. 1990-1999: generation no longer a major doctrine.. 1980-1989: getting over 1975, ray franz, year of peace, end before 20th century ends, generation is 70 years old.
