  I fought this battle 30 years ago. Had a brother who smoked pot to alleve symptoms from cheomtherapy. Doctors unoffically endorsed it. Did the public protesting and lobbying to no avail. I don't think we are any closer to having legal pot now than we were 30 years ago. Feds are not going to allow it.

  if you had your chance who would you want to meet face to face, talk to them, spend some time picking their brain, have a dinner with, get to know better?.

  anyone ever been in a meeting and notice the constant head-nodding in zombified agreement that witnesses do.

  it drives me crazy!

  especially since it seems to increase and be accompanied by little "hmmms" whenever someone says something that is complete bullshit.

  i read this article and got goosebumps.

  i've long since put to rest the old demons of my childhood.

  what happened, happened but that was 40 years ago and i've gone through hell and come out the other side.

  It would be interesting if my abuser contacted me and offered an apology. I know that there could not be any legal justice offered me in legal system we now have. So, an option of justice is not there for me. I would probably listen to what his apology would be. I would ask him if he has apologized to any other victims. I honestly don't know if I would get violent, probably not; but it could become very upsetting to me. Don't see this scenario ever happening though.

  dateline has been running a series of programs on internet child predators.

  just a few months ago, they (along with perverted justice) made an appearance in sleepy little murphy, texas.

  they used a house 2 blocks from where we live (all those evil, wicked apostates who've been to my home should know).. tonight they ran the episode, complete with the arrest of a local school teacher who was trolling after what he thought a 13 year old boy, a neighbor (literally) and a public prosecutor who killed himself rather than be arrested.

  i'm not practicing the religion now and i was never baptized.

  my fiance is baptist, we care having his pastor whom i very much like marry us.

  Listen Newbie. I was an ex elder and those who were elders on this board have seen what the official line is from the WTS. Maybe in your experience, you haven't seen this kind of application; but we have. So, spout your opinion; but remember that others here have perhaps more experiences with the WTS than you have. Just my opinion.

  MInimus and Blondie are correct on this one. As much as you would like your father to toe the "conscience decision" line on this one; the WTS will nail him going to a wedding that is not proper JW sanctioned wedding ceremony. He will be removed as an elder if he attends.
